I would like to add a few things after reading some other posts. Again, I dont know AZ rules & regs:
It is true you cannot let a child off anywhere, I would have told the student I would return to school and let her off. If there is a problem, you can always call in and ask dispatch what they want you to do or return to school. Seems like there were other options instead of what the driver chose.
I addressed the whole cell problem earlier, but I dotn understand how one kid on a phone can distract the driver to the point she has to pull over and single out that one child. I have about 50+ students on my bus each run and with that many kids in such a small environment, it is very noisy.
Also, the drivers daughter had no business getting involved and her mother let her. My kids ride along with me, one is school aged, and they are treated the same as any other student. He gets written up when he is in the wrong, just as everyone else is.
I just cannot get over the fact that this has been aired and because the driver is a county employee she doesnt get punished for her behavior.
this is by far the most intelligent reply or response I have seen (here or on youtube) and to be honest if it wasn’t for people like you leaving a normal educated reply I would think the whole world has gone insane.
I think for the most part it’s a clear split between people who see Sammy as rebel who needs to be taught a lesson, and people who see things as if it were their child being attacked by someone who has no right. Yet not too many people seem to be able to separate personal emotion from “what a logical mind would have done”
Personally I am one of the ones who watched it and kept wishing that in the end of the video we were going to see the driver carried off the bus in cuffs by police… or at least someone from a mental ward.
Crazy messed up world if ya ask me… Sammy if ya read this, just be glad you weren’t too hurt, and that YES in fact there are normal, sane people in the world that saw this for what it really was.
