I'm in Texas watching my state burn up literally and figuratively, with livestock dying and cotton crops failing. I have tried to follow national coverage to check on the most beautiful place in America. My husband and I vacationed at the Woodstock Inn a few years back, and experienced the most relaxing, enjoyable time of our lives. I know that although I expected to see Jimmy Stewart walking down your streets, this is real--the floods threaten jobs and your economy. Rebound soon, and please share that even as far away as we are, that we are wishing for a speedy recovery for the people and beauty of Woodstock.

Sadly, Vermont is largely forgotten about by the federal government: Knowing that national entities such as FEMA would never bother with Vermont, local residents are forced to help one another out of these situations in a dire straits 18th century colonial manner. This lack of national interest contributes greatly to Vermont’s status as one of the most poverty-stricken states in the nation.

Peter Shumlin is utterly useless as a governor, so Vermonters need to bypass him entirely and raise some questions to the federal government directly, such as why they should be subjected to federal taxes if they are constantly ignored by and deemed ineligible for federal services?

Obama and Napolitano never showed up for one reason. Vermont has only 3 electoral votes. And they are already in the bag. So there's no need to come here to campaign by saying the government is here to help. Napolitano was in Abany, NY and all she needed was a 20 minute helicopter flight to visit Vermont. But there was no need.

Water, water, everywhere, but nothing to irrigate our fields? Jefferson is PISSED. How stupid can 1 generation be. The answer my friend is blowing, storming and flooding in the wind. 1 generation of cerebral fecal matter, that's all it took. p.s. Love your hawaiian shirts and flip-flops

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Aries

Take care today Aries, because the emotional landscape in your neighborhood will be full of pitfalls during the coming fortnight, as it has been since the Solar Eclipse on May 20. The more convinced you are that you're right, the harder it will be to navigate your way around forthcoming events. If you feel resentful of someone, perhaps a neighbor or sibling, you need to get your feelings out in the open, rather than burying them deeper, where they'll fester and lead to more problems in the long run.
