But they take credit for the all important "Arts Fest." Woo hoo, great job QA!!! Quakertown sure is alive!!!Hint: QA! doesn't own the buildings, determine the rent, set the tax incentives to owners or renters, have a large budget, etc. Got the picture?
The boro is losing more businesses

I'm sure they would welcome some forward thinking residents like yourself onboard. Or is this where we should insert the "It won't make a difference" part of the argument? |

I think that the boro needs to take more of an interest in the downtown. The landlord proposal that is on the table is a start. They have no incentives for the owners to come in. Why should a business pay more for their electric, water and sewer? What curb appeal does the downtown have? They need to put some money into makeing it more appealing then better stores may come along.

The owners of these properties had better invest some money in putting in handicapped and proper electric and plumbing, some of these places are horrid. By the way, the rent is not cheap and if you put the electric, heat and fees into it....not a dream place to put your business. |
I totally agree. Ate there for the first (& last time )last week. The decor was bad,the waitress was covered in tatoos, the food was over priced for the quality & the coffee was cold ( served in a Q-town National Bank mug) How classy ! |

Personally, I've said it in another posting, and Bucks County Resident said it...it's the hours.
Small businesses open 5 or 6 days a week, close at 5 pm, and than complain walmart drove them out of town. People who can spend the money there, work for a living. Even myself, who spend a great deal of my time working from home, have a hard time not actually 'working' even though I very well could shop. It's not convenient. I love local business. I'm a small business owner from a family of small business owners. But you need to serve your customers...open at least one evening during the week. And I love saladworks...but it takes me three days to eat one of their salads, lol! |
Leave Zaiser alone. He has done more for this town than any other council person has in years. If he wasn't on council, this town would still be asleep with their blinders on. |
