According to the QA! Events webpage, Downtown Quakertown will be holding it's first Friday event on November 6th from 6 to 8 PM downtown.

I'm interested to see how this goes. The site doesnt specify if there will be live musice, events etc.. only "shopping and fun"

I don't think they should put a time on events. Thats a downfall of Quakertowns idea. They limit things to a few short hours. I guess this is a sort of test run to see how things go.

Anyone know of other things that are supposed to happen with this event? Bands? Events?

An idea for the December 1st friday....get the QHS high school band and chorus to sing/play christmas music and light the christmas tree. Make it a whole event/ceremony.

have A Hot Cocoa stand and put christmas lights on the buildings downtown!

Get a few reindeer for the kids to pet and maybe some carriage rides.

Maybe get an ice sculptor to come to town or start an ice sculptor competition. That would be awesome!

If it were not from a woman from the Penn Foundation offering to sponsor and organize this it would have never happened.
My best friend has been on a committee that was meeting since last winter trying to put together First Friday events that never happened. We were sopose to have one every month since last June. I don't think that that committee even exsist anymore. QA just gave up on it.

Applause to QA for trying to bring something to the downtown in advance of Christmas season. Why does it have to end so early, at 8:00. Keep it on until 9 or 9:30. Get some music and some outdoor action. The shops should be well lighted and cleaned up and fresh merchandise displayed. Merchants, give it a good try.

Write in Nancy Roberts for Council.

Apparently if you read post #3 above, QA did not organize this. It was organized by someone else. It is just listed on the QA website.

Stop please!

Nancy Roberts, while maybe a nice lady, does not have what it takes to be on Council. Those who who have seen her in action know she doesn't have the intelligence or knowledge of the Boro workings to do the job. Plus no one on Council even thinks she has what it takes. NOT EVEN DAVE ZAISER!!! He would never support her for Council. I've talked to him about this and there is no way he would ask anyone to vote for her. They (Council) have seen how many times previous Councils and the Boro have had to get involved in her running of the historical society to fix things or make things right.

She is not capable nor worthy of a vote. This is representing 10,000 peoples best interests, not a social group.

As long as it's not the ONLY First Friday, that puts the Downtown Tree Lighting on December 4th as the next. That could make for a great night as far as opportunity goes. Hopefully we'll see the downtown businesses decide to take advantage of this opportunity.

First Friday has been a joy in this Quakertownians family. We have dinner at Dominic's, ice cream across the street, go to Tana Kaya, Moyer's, Sine's 5 and 10 (for christmas decos - great place) and saunter through Lion Around, Studio 116 and Patriot.

It's really sweet and benefits old town Qtown and our community. Instead of passing our cash to Walmart (which I dislike an whose profits do not benefit local businesses) the family and I have a terrific time and enjoy the stroll down old town Broad Street with all its old time charm. We run into lots of local friends and chat and talk like we're watching the movie "A Christmas Story."

What could be better for the family or the community?

How bout A movie downtown on first fridays? Set it up right in triangle park..set up some seats. Thats an easy thing to do on first friday's!. That way you can grab ice cream and watch the movie, grab a bite to eat, some pizza maybe.

When next month comes, have an awesome christmas movie downtown (A christmas story) as one stated above! EASY, EFFECTIVE, relatively CHEAP idea.

I hope someone with ability or QA members are reading this! Great ideas

Tana Kaya will have live music and be open until 9:00 pm. Melanie Loveless is an awesome vocalist.

Try this -

I think will contact the December 1st Friday people about this idea. Great idea. You're right, it's easily accomplished. I like the idea very much. I am ashamed that I did not think of such an event myself, but its a keeper. Caroling strollers while we drink hot chocolate (Sine's cocoa is wonderful or hot spiced cider) and watch a classic movie evoking the pleasant holiday life of family outings and togetherness.

I like living in Qtown. We can make it better too!

Wonderful post. You paint a Rockwellesque picture of old town Qtown. Our family will be sure to participate! Thank you!

Don't forget to stop by little Mexico. Maybe the new deli store will be open by then. Maybe you can take a whack at a pinata.

The weather looks perfect for this event. Sunny day (but the day doesnt matter), high 55 but by 6 pm, cool, crisp and clear. A good night to walk around in the brisk November air!

WOW NO RAIN!!! How many times can you say weve had no rain on any particular day?! haha

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Libra

You're full of empathy and affection today, so it would be a shame not to spread it around. It's a marvellous day for a low-key get-together with some of the people you haven't seen during the past few days, because you'll enjoy having a good chat about what's been happening. Once your social duties are out of the way you'll love curling up on the sofa with a good book or a favourite film.
