I know we had a discussion on this topic before. I had to pass the intersection 4 times tonight from 8:30 until 9PM. If anyone hasnt noticed the loitering they are blind. The rehab place had about 5 people outside up to no good. And on the way home from the post office, the QT police were just arriving for a call there. This must be great for business at McCoole's. I sure hope landlords dont start renting to the lower classes, or that area is shot. And that takeover happens very fast.

You are absolutely right! However, I believe some of those that attend the rehab clinic may also live above McCoole's. What's that all about?

If thats the case, then they are part of the problem.

I drive thru that intersection 4/5 days daily. On OCCASSION I see people outside but not as often as you all make it seem. I eat outside of McCoole's and there has yet to be any kind of a scene going on due to any "undesirables". I am convinced this town is afraid of everyone that is different then themselves. BTW there are quite a few handicap (mentally challanged) youths that live across the street, I sure hope you are not mistaking them as "hoodlums" because of the way they dress and stand outside waiting on their bus in the morning and afternoon!

About 6 months ago or so, I saw three guys getting handcuffed by the Quakertown police on the balcony of the second floor of McCoole's.

Fiona, they weren't handcuffed because any of us are "afraid of everyone who are different than ourselves....."

Those living above McCoole's have been living there and are not clients of the clinic. I am not saying there is not a problem with those living above McCoole's just as there are problems down by the Bush House, I am saying people are judging the people that are going in and out of the clinic without knowing where the real trouble is coming from.

I see these people often myself, they lollygag through the traffic and just seem oblivious to what's going on, they appear to come from across the street from the rehab place. I see a lot on 14th street also. I don't know if they are part of the programs. They have very southern accents so perhaps they are shipped here for the rehab.

I do wish the corner could be cleaned up from loitering. You sit in the traffic and have to deal with them while the windows are open, language is not very nice. I close the windows now since I saw someone spit at a car ahead of me.

I live down the street from it. It is not plesant.
It is one thing to sit on your porch and talk it is another to hang off the porch , spit, curse, stare at people and make it look like a ghetto.

Thats exactly what I think when I am in that area. Who do we rely to clean this up and restore the neighborhood? If not, this is going to get much worse, and turn into the "bad" section of town.

It is a shame because down the street there are some great old houses that could be quite beautiful.

I think this is something where a landlord ordinance can help. Once the landlord has to start pumping money into his rentals to bring them to code, then he has to raise the rent. When the rent goes up, the riff-raff cannot afford it.

Exactly, but right now, it seems as the landlords just want to places filled. So they will lower rents and take what they can get.

I'm concerned for when the theater building starts hosting some nice events, who wants to put up with that nonsense. Perhaps the owner of Mc Coole's will call for some action, the place she has built is too nice to be out gunned by a bunch of low life.

I just came through there, there seems to be particular times they change up or something, if it's 8 on the street, there's 6 on the curb ...some hanging out at the house across the street. Someone should know if they are part of that rehab, maybe they rent them places if the building is overcrowded. And, not for anything other than an obvious and apparent visual ....why are they all black americans.

Thats what we were getting at without saying it. Because we would all instantly be tagged "racist"

The Main Street Theater is closed and sold. Someone told me it was sold to the folks who own The Red Lion (McCooles.) Is this true?
