Any idea when this will be opening. The building the YMCA will eventually reside in looks like a commercial building. Only in this area!!! Take a look at the YMCA in Upper Hanover. Its probably about 5 years old, but is a first class facility. Why invest the money for a sub par building?

The Upper Bucks Y has been blundering about for years. Look at all the time they wasted holding out for free-bee land...5+ years? The Upper Perk Y started from scratch not too long ago and is now surpassing UBY. Pennsburg now has a 1st class Y work-out center. We left the UBY years ago for Boyertown BNY which is much better managed. UBY suffers from stale and bad management!

That's why they wanted to give the land to the Y.

You're just full of sunshine and roses I do not know when the new building will open but to expand upon your concerns. The questions I would ask are. What are the plans for the new Y?? What's in store for the building?? Is this a sub-par building for the future needs of the Y? When considering the available budget did the physical size, style, and location of the building hold more importance than the appearance? We need a large facility with parking in a location central to the community. Does this building meet that criteria? I submit that in many cases the appearance of a structure is of less concern in the purchase decision than curb appeal. A case can be made that the cost of adding curb appeal is a low percentage of overall project cost as compared to size and location. I can not speak to the cost but look at the Old Nestors building as an example that a building can be transformed dramatically to appeal to, and suit, updated needs. Also to consider is the location. A large building and lot that is easily driven to, and within walking distance from a densely populated area of Quakertown and several schools. I respect your consideration of Upper Hanovers Y. It's advantageous to consider what other areas have done to get ideas for our Y, but in the end it's our YMCA. I don't want it to be a duplicate of another community.

The building is hidden on Fairview Dr and is basically a pole barn. Will the equipment be new, or will the same old equipment from the current Y make its way to the new building? Another reason people go elsewhere, the equipment is old.
