I overheard a conversation about the possibility of a lawsuit being filed against Miriam Holder. Apparently, Miriam Holder offered the new deputy clerk a job before being sworn in as mayor. I heard them say that she called Betty Speights and told her that she can have the job as deputy clerk. So, the person that is filing the lawsuit stated that they had also applied for the job, and now they know whey there were not given an interview. Keep your ears and eyes open to see what's going to happen. Is this true, I don't know, but I would like to know. Do you know what's going on?

I just have a feeling that this is not the last time we hear law suit while she is mayor... I think that unless something major changes we are in for a long 4 years....

please give her some time to make the changes that she needs to. i hope and pray that she can get the job done. ms. holder has alot on her plate. but the people of lumberton need to stand behide her and support her. she is the mayor of our little town. there is one thing i would ask of her is that she dose something about the police department. it is like if you are a fortenberry or live in colmbia then you can work there.

She is doing so much that the people of Lumberton have no idea how bad it is going to hurt the City.. Like what if the state does go ahead and pull out all the fire equipment because they cannot support the fire department..
They agreed to a contract and now they are trying to back out of it. They read over it and knew what it said when they signed. People from the state came and looked at it with them.
All this is goind to do is made the state pull out their equipment. then they citizens can see their insurance jump sky high.. and then they can say a thank you to Ms. Holder.

what difference does it make if the state does take all the fire equipment, the fire department is a joke, a bunch of damn monkeys with a water hose and not the first one of them know how to turn it on

Well, I have know this lady all my life. So what if she offered someone a job, she had enough faith to beleive that she would become mayor. I really hope that she bring things to Lumberton because that town is so behind. It's because some of those people sitting on the board doesn't want change. But, the question is do Ms.Holder and Lumberton want a change? Lumberton is like a ghost town...WE NEED A CHANGE!! Then maybe people will have jobs and want to move back home..

Really Sounds like someone that does not know ANYTHING about the fire department.. You are required to go through trainging through the State. To even be a volunteer Fire firghter. So sounds like someone needs to do some studing himself and get all his facts straight before they run their mouths about something they know nothing about.. Maybe someone who does not have themselves what it takes to be a firefighter...

WELL SO FAR ALL SHE HAS BROUGHT IS MORE DIVISION TO THE CITY.... I THINK THAT EVEYONE OF THEM NEEDS TO BE THROWN OUT AND LETS START FROM SCRATCH.. I DO NOT THINK THAT SHE SHOULD HAVE EVEN BEEN ALLOWED TO RUN AND HER UNDER WATCHFUL EYES FOR WHAT SHE HAS DONE WRONG AND SHE KNOWS WHAT IT IS... I THINK THAT IF SHE CARED ANYTHING ABOUT THE CITY SHE WOULD STEP DOWN AND LET SOME HEALING COME TO THE CITY.... ALL THAT IS THERE NOW IS PEOPLE THAT ARE GETTING THEIR POCKETS FULL OF THE CITIZENS OF LUMBERTON THAT ARE SUFFERING BECAUSE OF HER.

For your information the men and women of the lumberton fire department, tho volunteers are trained the same as any payed firefighter in Mississippi. We are here for our comunity and we do what we do for the people of Lumberton.Yes we know how to fight fires, save people and property. Unlike some slack wristed joker, who likes to talk trash about firefighters who put thier lives on the line for people in thier comunity. If you think you can make a comment like you have,and not know anything about firefighting, then I know who has the intelligance of a monkey.
