I'm glad to have stumbled across this forum. I have wanted for several months to warn people about doing business with Cleary Builders. I contracted with them a while back to put a building on my property. When they finished (I wasn't home) they proceeded to put no less than FOUR Cleary adds on my building. One is a shamrock weather vane (which I agreed to) and the others are a variety of HUGE shamrocks and Cleary signs on both the front and back. Excuse me, but I'm not Irish (nothing against those who are), and frankly, I had other ideas about how I wanted to decorate the building. They told me (I went all the way to the top of the corporation) that they reserved the right to use my property for advertising purposes, and that any attempt on my part to take it down or obscure it would result in their voiding my warranty! I pointed out that I paid for the building, it belonged to me, and they had no right to use it for advertising purposes. They sent me a warranty that included the stipulation that they reserved that right. Nothing in their sales agreement, brochures, or any other documents presented at time of sale disclosed that fact. I hate looking out my kitchen window and seeing the stupid thing. My husband planted a tree so that I would not be reminded daily that he who has the most money to hire the most lawyers win! Just remember when you see the shamrock, it's not there by choice. They are the most rude and heavy-handed corporation I have EVER dealt with. Avoid them at all costs.

We had Cleary Buildings build a barn for us and it's a leaky mess. They won't hold up to their warranty. We have been dealing with this for a year. The corp. has been HORRIBLY rude and have lied repeatedly. The regional manager got up in my face and yelled at me and shoved his phone in my face, and all corp.did was transfer him. The crews keep telling me about all of the messes that they have in the company and that corp. won't do anything---now we're taking them to court, and when I told them that they said "That's OK, take us to court!"

this company has been sued before. many customers have complained, just look up their company information on the better business bureau, not just in colorado but in Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin as well as other states. I personally know the reputation of this company and it stinks. They have had many disgruntled customers over the years because they don't want to come back and fix something when there is a problem. it's better to go with a competitor for more money in my opinion than do deal with this company. There is so much more lacking with this company besides ethical business practices. I agree- AVOID THIS COMPANY IF YOU VALUE YOUR SANITY

We at Cleary Building Corp.are proud of what we build and this is a way to put our mark on our buildings. Along with any other post frame builder and any manufacture of appliances, automobiles etc. this is to identify their product. Sorry you feel the way you do on this matter but look around all your household items and you will see we are not the only company identifying our product and we do so with Pride!

I am not aware of any building that we have not stood up to our warranty on. Please contact me at the Pueblo West Office. My name is Don Herron and I would like to discuss problem mentioned to resolve.I started with Cleary 5 years ago as a Branch Manager in the Pueblo West Office and took on the position of Region Manager 4 years ago.I do not recall any of the events that are stated. I have never transferred as stated. I also am not aware of any court cases pending. As far as the Crews employed with the company. I know they all have Pride in what they do and if they felt that way about the company as stated they would seek other employment. I am not aware of any crews that feel this way. Again I welcome you to call me to make me aware of this problem so I can work to resolve.

I agree with the lady/#1........I know, you place your logo on all your buildings and so do all the other big builders, but come on.....she doesnt want it there. How about some old time customer service. Don't forget, Pueblo is a pretty small town.

I erect buildings for a living, I was in search for a building for our land. Went and got bids from several companys, same size and everything, except Clary was a pole barn, 120 grand. I erected an all metal building for one third of the cost of a Clary. They're a RIP OFF. I personaly know people who have Clary buildings (pole barns), quality sucks and way over priced.....

I had a Clary barn built some years ago.(Clary Office not the one in Pueblo) When the barn was completed i inspected it and found that there were no door headers on the four stall doors, The sky lights were not evenly spaced. No diagonal bracing. Like many others i called the office and spoke with the salesman. I was told this was what i got for the money i spent. If i wanted better than i should have paid more.
I took photo's of the defects and sent them to Clary home office in care of Mr. Clary himself. I received a very polite letter in return stating they would be happy to correct it.
The following day i received a call from the local office manager who wanted to come down and inspect the problem so he could order the necessary materials. Upon his arrival he noted the defects and in leaving stated "The only reason we are fixing this is to keep you quiet".
The barn was repaired within a few weeks to my satisfaction.
Would i recomment a clary barn to others.

We compared Cleary to a number of different buildings including Morton. We were supprised that Cleary was cheaper and talked a decent game. We were almost ready to write a check and then we went and toured a Morton building with a friend of ours who owns both a Morton and a Cleary.
The difference was night and day and our friend after his bad experience has vowed to show these differences to everyone he can.
Our Morton has been done for nearly a year and it is BY FAR the best value out there for a building. It was more expensive, but you cannot put a $ sign on quality and craftsmanship!

Wish I had done more research, I was given a GREAT sale pitch and you should see what I got. YES, I have a Cleary debacle on my hands and it will cost me thousands in lawyer’s fees. Take a look at my website http://www.myclearybuilding.com . Let me know if you still want to consider Cleary...

I am considering putting a large barn/building on my farm land and wanted to look at both Cleary and Morton. Thank you so much for this forum, as I would never buy a Cleary now after seeing these comments, especially www.myclearybuilding.com . I'm a home builder. You could not ask for a more poorly built building. And their customer service is horrible. The buyer will not only win their case, but should get also their attorney fees paid. Not sure in their state if they can get treble damages or not...hope so! I hope all of you that have been treated like this from Cleary will take your case to court. You will win!

I too am glad to have found this page. I'm planning to have a barn built this year and was considering Cleary - not anymore. My sister had a Lester built and it is way beyond her expectations. She even likes it better than the Morton she had before! I thank those of you with Cleary experience.

I work for a reputable Post Frame company in the Midwest. We are a regional company and only build in 2 states. A great website to help people find a good builder is www.nfba.org This website will show you local builders in your area that have been in the business and look to advance the business of Post Frame Buildings(pole barns) I encourage anyone to first look there before selecting a builder. There is also a lot of helpful information to aid in you planning.

My name is Dan Bullock. I am the CFO of Cleary Building Corp. and am writing on this site to set the record straight.

First some general commentary: Cleary Building Corp. has built over 77,500 quality buildings over the last 31+ years. While we are not perfect, we strive to be every day and have a customer satisfaction rating of 99%. When there is an issue with one of our buildings, we address it. We do so quickly, fairly, and reasonably. We have hundreds of employees whose families rely on our producing good quality products to provide them jobs.

Specific commentary: First of all, I find it unacceptable that people with such strong feelings, and who can have an effect on the well being of so many others, don’t have the fortitude to identify themselves. Like my co-worker, Don Herron, and the many others I work with at Cleary, we feel that being direct and forthright from the beginning is the only way to communicate. I will also provide my contact information below. As for the specific issues sited here, I can concur with Don Herron and add that the right to display our Shamrock is documented in our sales literature. We are proud of our buildings and consider the best advertising for Cleary Buildings is a Cleary building! As for some that have written on this site, all I can offer is a commitment to correct any issue you have directly and with reason. For others, like Mr. Dame, we provided a reasonable offer to correct his issue, he was unreasonable in his manner and response and we are now in litigation to resolve this matter. As for the NFBA, we took a look at membership and have determined that what they offer is not something that we need to run our business. We would rather not pay these dues and better the price of our products for our customers. As for the BBB or any other rating organizations, I also recommend you look into them. You will find, for example, that the BBB has rated us an “A” and we have been highly rated on others too. Finally, on those that work for us and don’t share our values or philosophy-yes it happens, like in any other national company- if they don’t serve our clients, they will not be with us long.

I will end my short narrative with a simple offer. If you want the true story of a family owned and run business, that has a commitment to doing things right, and has done so more than 77,500 times over the last 31+ years, I can be contacted at our corporate office in Verona Wisconsin. I welcome the opportunity to discuss our company, products, and record of performance with you directly. As for the other 77,500+ satisfied clients, I am confident they are finding better things to do with their time than complain to you.

As far as the NFBA goes, I only offered the info to help the consumer. This was a blog where people were voicing their opinion and looking for assistance/advice. I gave a helpful resource to them with out making it about my company. I work in the industry and only wanted to help the consumer.

I have had one pole barn constructed for me in my life and it was a Cleary. From the salesman coming to my home through the completion of the job, to using my building, I would rate the entire process as an A+.
The salesman was very knowledgeable about his product and the building process in general. He laid out step by step the entire process and what I should expect. He even told me it was company policy that the Shamrock MUST be installed on the building. I cannot believe the heartburn some people get over a Shamrock. And no, I am not irish, Nevertheless, I went to great lengths making sure my ground was prepped for the building and all of my questions were asked and answerred BEFORE purchasing the building. The building showed up on time, the crews showed up on time, and were very professional during the entire process.
I have since moved from that location and am looking to have another pole barn built and, yes, it will be a Cleary... Shamrock, sign and all.

And lucky for me, I don't have a wife to make me plant a tree in front of my building. I bet that guy just loves to come home at night.

As soon as the salesman took the picture of my completed building and left, out came the ladder and down came those dam green signs off of our white and blue building. We did save them in case of a claim. Other than that we are happy with our Cleary building. It is not as nice as our Golden Fox, but we still like it.
