This is a tragedy beyond belief but there are the Jeff MacDonald types out there, hopefully few and far between, and that kind of murder does come to mind during a tragedy of this magnitude. I can tell you I have double checked my door and window locks since Monday. The police may very well be holding some information and have others under survelliance, or not. My sympathy to all the family members left behind.

thank you and i have tried telling these people that i believe now that the poor Dr. is a victim...it's just that they like to bash people here, yet these are the types that don't like when our civil rights are trampled on yet they want to hang me or something for a suspician that i put out there the very FIRST day that this was reported...i would have thought they would be certain to make sure they killed the strongest person...so he wasn't a threat...they knew they didn't because they tied him up down there...i mean why tie up a man you think you killed..these people are calling me NANCY DREW like they aren't speculating anthing, after all isn't that what these forums are for ... discussing these crimes with other people that have a passion for trying to figure out why people do the things they do...without getting attacked ... i've been called immoral and basically the devil as though i killed that family...i'm done with this forum the entire Topix thing...this was my first forums and my last i'll discuss my thoughts and stuff like this with friends as i used too... |
Ruined it for you? Good. Find something else to do that's not crime related since you are so 'bored'. |

I share your suspicions about Dr. Petit, and I think the semi-hysterical responses to your posts are just silly. If Dr. Petit was not responsible, than he certainly isn't focusing on what bloggers are speculating about, so why are posters going so nuts to defend him? If I knew Dr. Petit personally and believed he could never have been involved, I'd write, "I know it is odd that Dr. Petit survived, and I know most people are murdered by people they know, but I don't think Dr. Petit was involved." A post like that would do much more to convinve me of Dr. Petit's innocence than these, "You're-so-mean-to-accuse -a-nice-man-like-Dr-Petit. " Grow up, whiners. If you know Dr. Petit and think he's great, then say so without insulting people who are raising legitimate points regarding the similarity of these sick murders to the ones depicted in Fatal Vision and Blind Faith.

Hey did you create another account for yourself to appear like you really have support for your theories? Nice try. I don't see that anyone who knew him would 'find it odd' that he survived. |

kimbev69,
Wow. Simmer down, will ya? Geezus. You're making yourself look like a raging lunatic. And, not for nuthin', but most people don't care what raging lunatics have to say. So, if you want people to listen to and consider what you have to say, back off the psycho a little, kick up the meds, and give it another shot. You might get better results. You can't just hit the caps lock and start screamin' like a banshee about how you're entitled to your opinion and comments without offering that same courtesy to others. |

The posters who attack you personally are doing Dr. Petit no favors. The issues you have raised are valid. People who know Dr. Petit personally would be much more persuasive if they prefaced their support for him with a concession that middle class people do sometimes murder or have murdered their families. Here are three movies based on true stories, all involving defendants as upstanding as Dr. Petit: Fatal Vision, Blind Faith, and To Die For. Do these movies mean that Dr. Petit is guilty? Of course not. But the stories behind these movies do make the posters telling you and me to "shut up" look like boobs. |

I have only one account. I agree with the other posters who think something is fishy about this story. |

Dr. Petit is, overall, freakishly composed for a man who watched his family brutalized and murdered a week ago. |
You mean poster, but okay, knock yourself out. |

Another person using movies to shape their view on reality. And you call other posters boobs....okay. Keep layin' your super logic on me! |

Composed? the video and news clips I saw had him looking like a zombie...It's called shock. Try to be respectful |
It's shock, but to you it's freakish composure. Yeah! |

You've got to get out more if you think there aren't many people who think it's strange that Dr. Petit is alive and well, while his wife and daughters are dead. I watched the video of him at the memorial service and I thought he was bizarrely composed. If you know Dr. Petit, start writing about what a good person he is, instead of attacking people who point out the starnge aspects of this story. Is it your position that middle class people never murder their spouses? This is a separate question from whether you think Dr. Petit was involved. |

The movies I cited were based on true stories, about which I have read extensively.(I thought it was a better bet you had seen the movies than read the books, and it seems I was correct.) Is your position that Jeffrey MacDonald never existed, or that he was innocent? |

I watched the seventeen minute video and Dr. Petit did not seem to me to be in shock. He seemed like someone who already had come to grips with the horrific murders of his wife and daughters...which would make sense if it were six months after their murders, instead of a week after them. |
He's alive, but won't be 'well' for quite sometime. I didn't see a bizarrely composed person, I saw someone in shock. On you separate question I don't assume that EVERY middle class person would murder their spouse. Just because you saw it in movies doesn't mean every horrific event follows the same plot line. Hey wait a minute...your kimbev's boyfriend aren't you? |
|
|
I saw the video a stoic man paying tribute to the three most important people in his life who were cruelly taken from him. I heard his voice waver with emotion at times, at one point he turned to look at his daughter's picture to control his emotion. At the end he broke down a bit. Dr. Petit is probably not new to public speaking and has likely spoken at medical conferences addressing large crowds of people. Not like most people that have never done it. When you go through something horrific your mind numbs it. Often people in bad accidents don't remember a thing. I was in tears at the end when he asked everyone to honor his family by doing something good for someone else and to love your family.

Maybe you issed the part were his relative (brother?) had to walk him out on stage...Thats shock. |
You and I apparently saw the same video. It was obvious that he drew strength from his loving family. Though they are gone, he can keep that with him. I couldn't imagine being in his situation, but I wouldn't count someone who's able to draw that strength as suspicous. |
