You know, i have to say that i'm skeptical of the father surviving...and may i be beaten with a heavy wet noodle if i'm wrong, but he's in basement beaten up but within the same day he is classified as "Stable" which is not intensive or anything life threatening. he was tied up in basement, and the only one to be able to untie himself. not the youngest found at top of stairs and did not get away and the oldest daughter was tied to bed but both basically died of SMOKE INHALATION, could it even be possible that daddy was somehow involved...again i stress that i am just a little confused...you would think the "strong" male would be the first one to get rid of, then use the older female to get the money outta the bank and then they kill her and let the kids die of smoke inhalation....i guess i'm the cynical one. no matter what this is very very sad

I ask this question on antoher thread. Has it been determined how the Dr. escaped. I just find it curious that he wasn't killed too. It is a very tragic thing and I'm not trying to make light of what happened to him. But, the reports have said that he was severly beaten and the next day say he is stable. Somethin about this dosen't sound quite right to me. Sometimes I get these strange feeling and I am dead wrong. Want to see if anyone else has the same feelings as me.

Want to see if anyone else has the same feelings as me. i totally had the same thought, and god forgive me if i'm wrong but you know it happens everyday...i saw an article today that says the suspects followed home the mom and one daughter from the store then when they saw where they lived they left to buy rope and an air rifle...and waited til 3am to break in and beat up the dad and tied him in the basement....they tied the two daughters to their beds and repeatedly raped them....including the mom and took the mother to the bank at 9:30am and made her withdraw $15,000 while the suspect waited outside...i have only one question ... why if she's in the bank alone doesn't she stay there til the cops come...but knowing her kids and husband are at the house still with the other suspect...i'm sure that they were told if they cooperate they wouldn't be killed...i just wish she woulda stayed at the bank until police came and it may have been a totally different ending...how sad

I am so sorry you felt the need to post unfounded suspisons. Bill, Jen and the girls where a loving close caring family. They were a family that lived their christian values on a daily basis. Bill adored "his girls". To think that he would ever do anything to hurt them is an abomination and lowers you to a level I wouldn't want to reach. I hope you find it in your heart to reconsider your coments. Please keep Bill in your prayers.

I am so glad you responed to these negative, cruel comments. What a horrible, horrible thing to happen to this family and this man. I just hope that people will keep comments like this to themselves during this time.

I think part of it stems from an overwhelming desire to find a reason why it 'couldn't' happen to you, this is why the unfounded speculation about the Dr. Some people won't believe that random violence happens. It is the same reason why rape victims are always second guessed and disbelieved...people don't want to believe such a horrible thing could happen to them so they place blame and suspicion on the victim and scrutinize what the victim did or did not do, just as some few freaks are doing here with this case.
I suspect we will find out they followed the mom and daughter home because they were both attractive and that rape was on the mind of the two sub humans from the beginning. This was not a robbery gone bad, this was a planned piece of torture.

ok first of i was SPECULATING...you people act like this type of thing was never ever ever done by a loved one...it's people like you that let these types out to begin with...BURGLARY isn't violent so let them suspects go free until they do something violent...i've been studying crime for about 20 yrs now and it is "IGNORANT" to believe the LOVING hubby would never do that sort of thing...yet history shows us that usually it is the ones closest to us that will harm us...this is a proven fact. so go read a book or two and learn something. ok
and even if the police in CT don't admit it they probably asked the suspects caught if they were paid or anything to do this...they were certainly asked whether the family was the intended target or whether it was simply their terrible luck to be chosen by these deranged men.
I totally feel for the poor Dr. to lose his family in such a way in implorable and how the poor father must have felt not even knowing what they were doing to his family as he was tied up...i cannot even imagine and my prayers and well wishes are with the entire family..
that is how i feel....but as i said people are ignorant to think that "loving" husbands/wives don't do these things...stop living in your bubbles people...

also, FYI i was not an abused wife or anything like that ... I simply pay attention to the news and the horrible things people do to each other especially their loved ones....i guess that doesn't happen in the "neighborhoods" that Pam, Pamela and Sickened live in though..how terrible of me, i wish i could live in the world you guys live in...to put me down for stating a question that has most likely come up in others peoples minds..and i bought up the question and apologized for even doing so in the same damn post...you people don't even pay attention when you respond with your supposed GOD FEARING hatred that is inside you

Wow. Bill, Jen and the girls are friends of mine. You can't expect me NOT to react when I see something like that in print.

A reasonably intelligent person would realize that the level of mayhem that went on in that house for SIX HOURS targeted against a woman and her two children is not the mark of an inside job or a family member who hired the two killers for some unknown nefarious reason.
All you have to do is look at the facts of what was done, how long it lasted and how the murders were carried out to see that this was a brutal crime carried out by two stupid, thugish brutes who enjoyed it.
Lastly, a reasonably intelligent person and a person with an ounce of compassion would never suspect or blame the victim in such a horrific crime without a shred of evidence.

Billy was a few years behind me at PHS, as as such we didn't know each other. I remember reading about him on the sports page of the Plainville Citizen while I was at college.
With his brilliant mind, I'm sure he could have practiced anywhere he wanted, and to that end he did-- practiced exactly in his home state, with brilliance, close to his extended family and his family's values.
My heart aches for him and I wonder if the ultimate cruelty done here is that he survived. This is not something he will shake off and forget. How he will cope is beyond my understanding, and I pray he has the strength to persevere.

Having a forum like this does not give a person a right to say anything that enters your mind.To even implyn that a kind, caring man like Dr. Petit would have anything to do with such a horrific act is adsurd. More time should be spent focusing on the healing and praying for all those touched by this tragedy rather than making up outrageous stories.

BEFORE PEOPLE START QUESTIONING DR PETITS TENACITY IN RESCUING HIS FAMILY, HOW MANY ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE RESULTS OF SERIOUS HEAD TRAUMA?
NOT WHAT YOU SEE ON TELEVISION BUT ACTUAL HEAD TRAUMA OF THE TYPE THAT DR. PETIT APPARENTLY SUFFERED.
IN FACT HOW MANY HAVE ACTUALLY EXPERIENCED SEVERE HEAD TRAUMA? i HAVE.
IT IS DISORIENTING YOU CANNOT SEE CORRECTLY YOUR MEMORY IS FOGGY YOU TRY TO STAND AND YOU GET SICK. IF YOU TRY TO STAND YOU MAY STUMBLE OUT OF A PLACE BUT NOT FIND YOUR WAY BACK.
IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE YOU ARE DRUNKER THEN YOU HAVE EVER BEEN.
THE DR. HAD SEVERE HEAD INJURIES. IMAGINE HOW HE IS PUNISHING HIMSELF FOR NOT BEING STRONGER AND YET IT WAS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO BE IF HE HAD A HEAD INJURY AS THEY SAID.

Why did it take TOO LONG for the police to assist the family after the teller called for help, while the mother was still in the bank?? The PRIDE that this City Manager was saying about the police how swiftly ther responded was unbelievable.

The Dr was tied on his feet and hand, he was disoriented after the head injury, being stable does not mean that he DID NOT HAVE SEVERE HEAD TRAUMA. That only means that he could talk and able to recall, that means the MRI or CT SCAN didn't show hemorrhage in the brain, but he could have a big gash on his scalp, a fracture of the skull. Remember, that it went on from 3:00 AM to 10 AM and he could have recovered from that trauma, to be able to hop up the cleear stairs and found his home in flame. Please give some compassion
