<quoted text> Maybe. But where would it end. No matter what the government consensus is.And I probably spelled that wrong. We are a christian based country. And I do not feel that every or any immigrant should be given the opportnity to change America as it stands now.I posted previously, Instead of the United States of America. We could change it to The United Countries of the World. That thought kinda pisses me and many others off a little. I'm a little miffed at the jewish holiday also. This isn't Jerusalem. And we wouldn't be allowed these rigths in their country either. Thats just my view. Nothing racist about it. I have nothing against them or their religion. Personally, I don't care what anyone worships.
Honey, this isn't a Christian country...it was founded by a bunch of Christian men so that all in this country could practice religious freedom, and a large part of that comes with not working on certain religious holidays. If that grinds your gears, you need to study American history more thoroughly.

<quoted text> Cause this is America. Thats why. Don't come here from where ever, and think you can just take over. GO HOME! If your legal. You took an oath to pledge allegiance to this flag. Don't expect American customs to change for your beliefs. Immigrants 80 years ago came to Ellis Island and renounced thier allegiance to their home land and became Americans. Legally. They never expected it to change for them. And were proud to be Americans because they knew it was better than where they came from. those are the immigrants that made this country the way it is today. They gave to it. They didn't take from it. And That folks, is whats happening now. I hooe you see my point. It's not racist. It's fact.
Actually, wrong! The original pilgrims were Protestant. The huge wave of Italian and Irish immigrants brought Catholicism to our country (in fact, the Irish Catholics founded the Catholic School phenomenon.) To say the prior immigrants renounced all to become "American" is a lie, or possibly a gross misunderstanding of history.

Still, Both were christian. And noone is saying you can't practice freedom of religion. Just stop trying to change holidays to suit them. If they want to celebrate. Go ahead. But bot everyone in town. Thats all. Oh, And I wish the NT would get up to speed in the cyber world. And make it so lonley bored people can't hack posters names and such. Or just pipe in a be jerks. As the losers in the previous posts.

Why do we have Christmas and Easter off? Its because the majority of our workforce would take off to celebrate those holidays, so it would be cost prohibitive to try and remain open. The Jewish population makes up a large enough portion of our population that the same rule applies. It seems that more and more Muslims are coming to our country to escape the atrocities happening in their own, and I have no problem with them celebrating their culture in our country. We all still do, or else there wouldn't be St. Patrick's day parades, Puerto Rican parades, etc.

Its great that you think she's nice, but I'm wondering if you've read the insulting comments that continuously flow from her. I'll gladly "go easy" if she can have a respectful conversation.

St Oatrick, again. A christian holiday. Puerto Rican parades are just that. Parades. And we don't get the day off for either.

That wasn't my point. My point was that we came from many different countries, but still celebrate our individual cultures even though we are American.

And just as it should be.. But don't force it upon everyone. That's all I'm saying.

Right, and nothing is forced upon us by having a day off for the holiday anymore than it is having to find an alternate route because of a parade.

Hey Proud Muslim - practice your taquiyya on other infidels; as Islam does not mean 'peace', Islam means surrender in Arabic. Salaam means peace but it is common for the Muslims to use this tactic to confuse the kafirs.[QUOTE ...first. Islam means "PEACE." ..[/QUOTE]
