Allow and condone the drain of WV resources and youth to other states... check

Welcome huge trash dump so rest of the nation can poision and defile our home... check

Build a unneeded and unwanted meth clinic in Princeton instead of educating the people and providing positive counters and support before such a clinic could ever be needed... in progress

I changed my mind about the methadone clinic. I was all for it but after seeing what a shape my sister comes home in every day after getting her 'dose' it makes me sick. She is in worse shape than a drunk, nodding out and slurring her words.I for sure dont want to be on the road while she is out driving.she was addicted to oxycontin, and I have saw her high plenty of times, but the methadone is not the answer for addicts. They are still getting a buzz every day ,the only difference is now its legal. Its just switching drugs. If any of you has ever saw someone knocked out on methadone you would be opposed to the clinics too.

Methadone is a synthetic opiate. It does extensive damage to the body because of its completely man made properties. Methadone maintenance is not treatment and should not be substituted for treatment. Are there treatment centers readily available in the area for those who are serious about sobriety?

The fact of the matter is that most of the drug overdose deaths in this part of the country are now the result of Methadone. In some cases, the drug is introduced to someone that has never taken it and has no tolerance for the drug. In other cases it is mixed with other common street drugs such as valium, zanax, lortab, which results in a deadly cocktail. Most of this Methadone sold on the street is a result of these clinics providing their patients with "take home doses". All that is required is that they return the bottle.

I have seen the results of the methadone clinic they go everyday to get there fix and if it dont do what they want it to they add more to it and then it leads to a legal drug overdose. What is the difference between doing that and handing it out on the street other than it being illegal. I think it is a bad idea what ever happened to putting them in REHAB and letting them dry out . We have enough drugs out on the streets as it is killing our kids.Besides there only going to quit if they really want to.......

There are 10 beds in southern WV and they are for men only. 3 month in pt rehab. None for women. Money needs to be spent on treatment. The problem with these methadone clinics are they are proprietary, there is no incentive to titrate the clients off of the methadone. It behooves the clinic to maintain the client on a higher dosage for a long long period of time. Its how they make their money.

If your sister is exhibiting those symptoms, then it is entirely possible she is taking something else along with the methadone...something illegally obtained. A methadone dosage alone should not produce slurred speech nor nodding off, etc. It should not be producing a high.

methadone will get you high, i have been high several times off of methadone.i agree that once you get immuned to it then it would take a larger dose to get the high. Its just like any other drug, the longer you take it the more you need.

Then your dosage was too much....and they should have adjusted it.

If one was truly committed to becoming drug free, they would. i have had clients who have requested their dosages be titrated down, because they wanted off of drugs.

Methadone is trading one addiction for another...

If you want off, its up to you to get off...say you don't want to do it anymore and then you don't do it anymore. You set your mind to it and you fight it yourself and do it. Only you can control your own life.

The big problem is that these clinics are not government owned and have very little regulation. It is not to their advantage to actually get people of drugs because that would reduce their income.

yeah, let the govt run it,like they dont mess up everything they touch! methadone is a medication like any other and the people who need it,have the RIGHT to take it if they need it.and you thank the good LORD that there are some people out there fighting against all this blatant DISCRIMINATION! methadone works,it works for me and i live a normal life, a happy life! so no one can tell mewhats good for me but me,and surely not the corrupt govt. the FDA APPROVED METHADONE for exactly what its used for, west virginia hicks are not going to stand in the way of these clinics they are everywhere in va and wva and all of you are too blind to see who your allies are! the problem and the clincs will be here long after all this contraversy is over, move on to a REAL issue like the drs who start these problems in the first place not the people who are trying to fix it!

Methadone clinics use to have to be non-profit, now they are proprietary. The incentive is gone to titrate a client down. It behooves the clinic to maintain the client at a higher dosage.
