My wife and I are thinking about starting a childrens clothing and toy store for children. My question to you is: Is there a demand for such items in Princeton and where do most of the Princeton area shop? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I shop a lot in Princeton but when it comes to childrens clothing I wonder if your meaning a second hand shop or brand new?? The reason I ask is because I go to some second hand shops and there are few that I shop at because even with second hand they mark the price way to high. When I see that I just head over to JCPennys because I can buy new, good , clothing at pretty good prices and sometimes cheaper than the used stuff. The other day at a second hand shop there was a kids nike t-shirt and the second hand shop wanted $12.00 for it. I couldn't believe it. I ran over to Pennys and they had one very similar for $5.49. Major difference.
In my opinion it kinda depends on the type and price range of the store. I would love to see a store similar to Pennys around and I know a lot of other people that would also. I will keep my eye out for any new business in town and wish you both the best of luck.
Thank you

Buda, I appreciate your advise and your comment. It will be consignment store for children's items. I promise you the store will be full of name brand and well priced clothing. The reason we are opening this business, is for the exact reason you are saying.. You can buy new for the same price as 2nd hand. We feel there is a demand in the Princeton area for a Nice, Clean Childrens Store that offers great prices, as well as great items. Please look for us to be opening a store sometime in Late Sept, Early Oct. We will also be offering pick up of items that you would like to put on consignment (this will be a free service that we will be providing. Also besides retail, we are going to program out of our store.. Such as story time once a week, crafts, etc.... Please spread the word in Princeton for my wife and I... If you are interested in consignment, let me know and I can send you my email address. Thank you again...

ABSOLUTELY there is a demand. The store opened for Freedom House in Spring Valley is PACKED every day it is open. I have a 10 year old son and I always need "play jeans/short, extra coats ect. I would be in your store constantly and I am from SV.
Good luck to you and hope to see you soon at your store.

I'm a stay-at-home mom on a tight budget. I usually shop at the Children's Place on Rt. 27 because they have great deals like 2.99 for shirts sometimes. I check out Milk Money all the time but sometimes they can be pricey. Also I go to TJ Maxx, Ross and Marshalls looking for deals. I'd rather pay a couple dollars more for something new than almost the same price for a used one. I would absolutely love a place like this in Princeton! Families like mine need it! Good luck to you!
