I am appalled right now! I get on this forum to see if i can find out what happened to girlfriends closet and I read "jamjam" putting down my friend, saying she "doesn't have enough money to open a plato's closet". You made her sound like this poor woman who doesn't have any money but wishes she did. Apparently, you don't know her at all, or you would not have posted that because guest is right, she does not even have to work! My son is friends with her son and they live in a 300,000 house in valley view. The thing about her and Dean is that they never act better than anyone else or that she is too good to run a consignment store unlike most people who live in 300,000 homes. My husband and I barely make ends meet and this family has always treated us like part of their family. They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet and would give you the shirt off their back.

Just wait..........soon after this new store opens there will be a thread about someone not liking it. Can't you people understand that people complain? Every retail store, restaurant, church, etc., will be complained about at some time or the other. If I was the owners of these other consignment shops I would blow it off. It's probably the owner of the new store just trying to hurt the other stores business.

O give me a break. I did not say she was a poor woman. I said exactly what she told me. That it was expensive to open one because its a franchise. I didnt say she was poor. So dont be such a drama queen. Not to mention she wanted to open a store where she made all the rules, and could do with her rented space whatever she wanted to. But yes, she did say that. To my face. I didnt say she was poor you moron. You obviously dont know anything about the franchise. Stop being a drama queen.

We had a Once Upon A Child about 12yrs ago i shopped there all the time. They closed and moved out in the middle of the night didnt call or refund me the money i had on a layaway with them. I had also paid them up front for a crib bedding set that they special ordered for me to go with a crib i had special ordered from them. The crib set never came in the owners kept making excuses and finally when my daughter was 2 months old they told me i could pick out a crib set that they had in stock but my crib i had bought from them was a canopy and they had no canopy sets in stock. They were going to have a canopy special made for me that i never received. I know this may not seem like a big deal but to a mother preparing her childs nursery it is.

The women at Sassy Zebra are stuck up as heck and I thought the stuff in there was just average. I didn't see anything in there that was special.

To the lady that knows all the people of this town, no offense but platoes closet is a franchise and that's why they are open everywhere bc they do give such great deals. Again, no offense but I just moved here and have been reading this forum and if ur friend is doing so great and doesn't have to work bc her husband makes such great money, then why is she ripping ur community off? I totally agree with u about not wanting ur fellow friends to fail at their buisness' but why are they're prices so high? Why are they rude? Just sayin... From a person that just moved here, I will not be going to sassy zebra after reading all this.... guest wrote: I don't get why some of you want so bad for local businesses to fail. I hope they all do good . If you don't like something about a store then just don't go back but you don't have to slam the business itself.. I am actually friends with Tia, Melissa and Melissa and honestly Tia didn't even have to work anymore. Sassy Zebra owner wouldn't have to work either if she didn't want to because her husband makes a good living. I know Melissa at select seconds is a single mom now so I'm sure times are tough and it sounds like you want her to fail. I actually asked two of these women if they were worried about plato's closet and Melissa B said that if it puts her out of business then it was Gods way of saying that she needed to spend more time at home. I shop at Select Seconds and the Sassy Zebra because when you are a consignment shopper, you hit them all. Just like I will shop at Plato's Closet. If you think plato's closet isn't going to be high though you might want to think again. Between the rent of building a brand new store and the franchise alone, I will be very surprised if the prices are low!

jamjam36 wrote: I was not hoping for the other stores to close. I love sassy zebra and select seconds. I was just saying their business might get slower once platos opens because number one, its all name brand stuff. And cheap. And they give cash on the spot. That was all i was saying. Ive worked for a platos so i know business is gonna boom. Jordan Prater is the owner and she is hoping to start taking clothes in end of july or so. Depending on construction and all that. And shes hoping for a grand opening in september if she has enough merchandise and the store is ready. And no theres never been a once upon a child store in jonesboro. They are from the same company called winmark. But it wont be long until one opens. Once Upon A Child WAS in Jonesboro and the same owner now has it in Collierville, TN. It was located in the Highland sahopping Center behind where Fuji Steak house is.

So when and where will Plato's open?I've never been to one it sounds great though. And the older lady at Sassy Zebra is ALWAYS rude. I will turn around and leave if she's there. The owner is nice though.
