This is promising news for Ohio. The country is moving toward clean energy--the industry has job growth of 7.3% in Ohio alone--and if Ohio energy companies start innovating their energy sources now, they'll be in the right place to benefit from legislation like the clean energy bill, which will be coming to the Senate this fall. Sherrod Brown should be sure to support this bill. It will support clean energy developers and investors in Ohio, and bring much-needed jobs to our state.
Congrats to First Energy for being ahead of the pack. Let's hope Sen. Brown votes for clean energy, to put all of Ohio in the lead. |

Hope this goes well. I converted to burning corn to heat my house 3 years ago and haven't needed to buy propane since.
Most biomass products contain a good calorific output if prepared correctly. There is money to be spent to do this, but in the long run it should work out well. Coal actually has less calorific output per ton than corn or a number of other biomass products. Please understand that calorific output is different than burn temperature, coal is hotter, it's easy to confuse the two. Another added benefit is that if there is a sewage treatment plant near there, the waste materials can be trucked in to fertilize the ground to further the growing of the biomass and deal with another Green issue of waste disposal. Waste output from sewage treatment plants is not typically used for human consumed crops like corn but is a great fertilizer and this application would be great for it. Also, it eliminates the need for crop rotation due to the biomass crops pulling the nutrients from the soil. |
