Perhaps the media will report the campaign finance reports filed by the candidate on 10/22/09. They will find that Mr. McFerson has donated $1,000 to each Feasel and King so far.$2,000 total....have these people no shame.
That is 25% of the money each has raised.

Dimon McFerson is the evil emperor of the Olentangy School Board. Most of the members are afraid to challenge him. He does not make himself accessible to the general public and basically is of the mindset that it only hurts seniors to pay property taxes, and since they are going to die soon the hell with seniors, just keep passing the levies and raising the salaries of administrators..

With the re-election of SOCIALIST and registered Democrat Feasel, McFerson is free to spend for raises for WADE and administrators.

Then he will come crying before the taxpayers with some selected almighty Dimon spin that they need more money or they will have to cut athletic programs and busing. We all know that once raises are given out the unions etc make it very difficult to rescind. McFerson seems to must think that the Olentangy School District voters are all or soon will be members of the Mormon Church and it is their duty to tithe for what ever Dimon wants.

I am a short timer in regards to Powell and Olentangy, having been here about 5-6 years. I have 2 children enrolled in the school system. I have already been impacted by 2 levy/tax increases since moving here and my taxes have almost doubled from 2800 a year to 5500. While I can understand the desire to have a great school system, contined increases as I have seen are unsustainable to the community, especially in this horrid economy. Property values are down, taxes up. My position at Chase was eliminated (I don't even want to get started on them) and as soon as I find a job (there's nothing local as most are probably aware) there will be one less taxpayer here. Times are tough for all, and my expectation is that any and all of the programs funded through our tax dollars are being run with the utmost efficiency. Yet I see digital scoreboards, display screens in front of schools, even schools at night fully lit with no regard to power consumption. My son informs me they are fundraising for the 7th grade for a field trip to Florida and people are without jobs and losing their homes. In my opinion, we are about 1 increase away from driving people out of the district. I honestly can't figure people out.

Concerned--I'm getting RIF'd from JPM, too--as well as many, many others but our school board just gave 3% raises to 80 administrators; one was given three raises this year!

We had a bond residual of $43MM just two years ago, and now it's down to $13MM. In other words,$43MM was left unspent from previous levies and they took those funds and spent them on off-levy pet projects and purchases--things that would not have been politically viable to have itemized on the ballot.

We're steamrolling toward a position of failing levies if this doesn't stop. What happened with the bond residuals amounts to unauthorized use of public funds, but, unfortunately ORC states that residuals can fund whatever the district wants. It's an outrage and shame on the sleeping residents of this community for not taking the time to understand the fiscal practices of their school district.

As Dimon was successful in getting his flock of followers elected to the school board, wanna bet that he and his flock approve pay raises and or benefit increases for administrators and teachers before the next operating levy???

Is Dimon really right for the school board. Court records show he is in the process of a nasty DIVORCE. He is probably out about town with little time for the School board let alone being able to think with a clear head given all that is going on in his life.

Dimon says we build schools for $7M. So why do they ask for $11M or more per school? Hmmm... who can say RESIDUALS!? I can.

Dimon lives in St. Georges Utah so why is he on the Olentangy School Board or is he even eligible in the first place?

72% of Central Ohio workers have not received a pay raise in 2009. Why is the Olentangy School Board even looking into increasing teacher or administrator salaries?? Or why did they give teachers an average of 6+% increase (including step increases??) in 2009. Time to bring the Union and Administrators back to reality. Hopefully the new Board will correct the situation.

What new board??? Did you miss the election last week...status quo was re-elected!

You are correct in your statement about wages...the time to act was last Tuesday...there were 3 strong candidates running on such a platform...but lost. Now...get involved...go to Board meetings (tonight 6pm) and keep nipping at their heals!

Just a reminder to DIMON there is a plethora of unemployed quality teachers, early retired, let go or otherwise. Before you go out giving outlandish raises or any raises check the market. You seem to have alot of experience when it comes to finding a new Superintendent. Why don't you use your talents to hire qualified teachers at no raises over incumbents. Oh I guess we forgot, dealing with a teacher on a direct basis is below your pay grade or perceived level of dignity.

This is not a true statement. It appears to be one of his children...read the court documents before you make allegations.

Since renters are a major contributor to the recent uptick in enrollment it would seem more fair that an income tax be used as a source of funding. That way everybody who send kids to the district actually pays directly to the schools.

OK McFerson and followers. Commercial construction is down over 70% in Delaware County. This means less future tax revenue from property taxes What are you going to do the next time you need more money?? In true McFerson mode you will raise the taxes on the homeowners. Let's do something different like an income tax . That way the renters actually pay something for their children to go to school in Olentangy. Or better yet freeze teachers salaries for 2 to three years, get rid of step increases and pair the administrative staff.

Dean of Students at Olentangy Orange High School was arrested at the Orange Township Hall at 2:33 am in the morning with alcohol on his breathe and his wife's car was towed(apparently she was not with him but who was??). Reportedly there were some adult activities going on in the wee hours of the morning.. This is the second time an Olentangy administrator has been arrested. involving alcohol and other issues. When is Olentangy going to start doing mandatory random drug testing of its administrators. When are they going to implement a morals clause and fire administrators for their behavior.

Is Elliot Spitzer Joel's uncle?? Lying to the cops. What else has he lied about in his role as Dean of Students. The Olentangy School Board needs to launce a full independent investigation .Wade Lucas likely has a bias and should not be involved.

Seems like Joel Spitzer, Dean of Students at Olentangy Orange High School has a problem with hiding the truth. He was arrested in 1999 for having multiple drivers licenses.

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Aquarius

Yesterday you had a good control over the workings of your mind, but sadly that isn't the case today. Instead, your thoughts are wandering in every direction except the one you need to concentrate on. The result will be a sense of being disconnected from what's going on around you and possibly even a dreamlike quality to the day. Don't make any decisions while you're like this.
