Michigan sauce In a medium bowl mix.... 2 tablespoons Vinegar 2 tablespoons brown sugar 4 tablespoons Lemon juice 3 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce 1/2 tablespoon Mustard 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon red pepper 1 cup catsup ...( mix well and set aside ) ( you will need ) a heavy pot . Melt 2 tablespoons of butter Add... Crumbled hamburger and diced onions and dump mixture on top... mix it in well with the onions and hamburger and simmer uncovered for 1 hour.. Stirring occasionally. It will cook down and be come thick... ( Serve over hot dogs and maybe use diced onion on top.) |

The only missing ingredient is cabbage (everyone knows that) and then you'll have something similiar to Genes. The one above is pretty close. My aunt has it, she is Gene's wife close friend. But we sworn to secretcy. The recipe is for sale for $1,000,000. LOL No one is willing to buy the recipe, everyone wants it for free. Nothing good is for free. Sorry the recipe is going to be buried forever with Gene, unless u have a million bucks. HaHa

You forgot to tell everyone how much hamburg to use. That could make or break the taste and you need to specify how much onion to dice with it. You also forgot to say whether or not you leave the hamburg grease with the hamburg or drain. You forgot to tell everyone to toast buns. Don't use butter. Yuck. Michigans are already unhealthy enough, don't cook everything in butter. You use white vinegar not plain vinegar. And you forgot important ingredient: cabbage. Go back and adjust this recipe so people have the right amounts with the right ingredients if they want it "close" to Genes. No one has the REAL Genes but Gene himself and he's gone. Rest in peace. Everyone claims they have the real Genes. Yeah Right. They were only willng to sell it before they told people. They wanted over $100,000 didn't they and no one would buy it. Even Gene's wife isn't willing to give it up. Smart lady! It is too valuable. We wish we could have Gene's recipe but we will never get it. |

One small onion, 1 pound ground round 90% & there will be very little grease. Drain what grease there is. Never use cheap hamburg. Whip the mixture good with a fork. God bless Alice & Gene. They were wonderful people. |
