The things Jamie share with you are all true. I have been living on the property for almost 2 yrs. I am so glad you ran and posted his story. Maybe they will clean up this place. I am currentley looking for a place to stay. I have had enough of Space Properties to last a life time.

Maybe Space Properties should have attended the National Apartment Association (NAA) educational meeting that was held in Richmond this week.
http://www.naahq.org/sitecollectiondocuments/...
NAA educates its members as to the potential for severe adverse health effects among tenants in moldy rentals.
NAA Blog: Mold, Your Silent Enemy
http://www.naahq.org/blog/Lists/Posts/Post.as...
"“Remember, mold can cause major health problems and even death. Don’t let it get out of control and affect your company or your residents.”
However, if one sues an NAA member for illness or death from a moldy apartment, they will jump into the litigation and tell the courts the exact opposite, while citing to the US Chamber of support this scientific fraud on the courts.
NAA Amicus in litigation involving infant deaths:
“In a report entitled,‘A Scientific View of the Health Effects of Mold’, a panel of scientists, including toxicologists and industrial hygienists stated that years of intense study have failed to produce any causal connection between exposure to indoor mold and adverse health effects.’ U.S. Chamber of Commerce, A Scientific View of the Health Effects of Mold (2003)”

yep, as a former employee, i know firsthand.you generally have around 50 hours to completely remodel these units , so yes you are going to cut evey corner you can. i've even had to pull the covers off the electrical meter and pull the clips to get power to the unit to do the remodeling.thier motovation is all about the money and nothing else. once that lease is sighned ,all bets are off and your stuck with what you have period.and yes they treat their employees worse than the tenants.those OWENS brothers are the worst employers i've ever had.i hope they get whats comming to them.

I could not agree more! I currently live in one of their apartments and I cannot wait for my lease to be up so that I can move! They showed me a model apartment on site and when I moved in it was not 1/2 as nice as the remodeled one they showed me. The sales guy, Anthony, told us we could get a washer and dryer ordered to rent through the apartments. IT WAS TOTAL BS! They dont even offer that. And the owner drives around in his Land Rover sucking up every dollar his tenants give him for himself, not taking care of the residents. They were also supposed to open our pool, they put fliers by each of our doors of a "Pool Party." to get a pass to the pool. Well, I waited for an hour and a half to get mine and the workers were a no show! They did not even have the courtesy to come down to the pool and tell us that they were not opening it! I had to call the main office! Do not move here these people are money hungry stuck-up people who care about nothing but themselves! The repairs that I contacted maintenance for were half @$$ done and went right back to the way they were beofre. I could go on all day..... Get these people back!!!

i have lived at Heritage Pointe Apts. for 7 years and can definitely confirm everything that residents are saying about the flooding along with plumbing issues. My apartment flooded 3 times since I've lived here. When the remnants of a hurricane came thru there was nothing we could do but take up whatever we could from the floor that was run by electricity to keep from getting electrocuted. It's fortunate that the outlets in the kitchen are high off of the floor because of appliances. When my carpet got soaked, the concrete slab underneath was not allowed to dry properly before new padding was placed down. So eventually the padding started to smell awful. I sprayed a solution of apple cider vinegar and water to kill the odor. The next thing was the appearance of mold growing up thru the linoleum floor in the kitchen. I would pour straight bleach on that and let it sit for a few moments and it would disappear but this would be as often as once a week that the mold would appear.
YES SPACE PROPERTY PAINTS A PRETTY PICTURE TO GET A PERSON IN BUT ONCE YOU'RE IN, THAT PICTURE DOES NOT APPEAR PRETTY ANYMORE.
They think planned 'social events' like pool parties aand martini nights are supposed to appease us but that simply isn't enough. I attend these functions simply because my rent money paid for it. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE CONDEMNED! PEACE.

I FORGOT TO TELL THAT I HAVE MY BACK DOOR SEALED WITH TAPE TO PREVENT THE FLOODING...AND IT IS WORKING ALONG WITH A PIECE OF PLYBOARD WITH SOME RUBBER GLUED TO IT THAT WAS PROVIDED TO ME BY A FORMER MAINTENANCE MAN. IT IS SOME 'JACK LEGGED' MESS BUT IT WORKS!!! MAY I ADD THAT YES IT IS A FIRE HAZARD BUT THIS IS WHAT I HAVE HAD TO DO TO KEEP 'DIRTY WATER' FROM ENTERING MY APARTMENT. PEACE.

I am also a former employee and everything that has beeen said is true. We were told to get things done but, we had nothing to do it with. We would have to order the material and sometimes wait up to two weeks to get them or we would have to go and buy it ourselves. We would have to due maintenance, turns and renovations with no materials, of course this problem got blammed on every one else but the owner and his brother. Why should a maintenance man or supervisor come out of pocket to buy materials, this is just one example of what we had to deal with. How could anyone work like this. All residents and employees are treated as if they are nothing more than trash. Mold has been bleached, kilzed and painted instead of the proper steps to get rid of it. This company does nothing more than cover up bad situations and make worse. I am glad that the truth about Space Properties is finally coming out. If you need a job or a place to live stay away you will get ripped off.
Sincerely

Interesting how residents and employees are so quick to turn against Space. I think that says something about your character. Or lack there of.

Hope you enjoy your 15 minutes of fame. Karma's a bitch.

Have you ever seen the AFTER pictures of the units when someone moves out? I don't think you'd be in favor of these residents after seeing them. The way the residents treat this property that does not even belong to them is dispicable. It's amazing how the renovation workers can transform the crap the residents leave Space Property with. No, I am not an owner. Just serving justice where justice should be served.

Let me tell you about Character... Any man or woman that goes out and tries to make a decent living to cloth, house and feed their family and take care of their children has great character! In this time an economy instead of sitting around and having the government pay for your responsibilities is more than you can say for most people.
You get up everyday to work a job and do the right thing but your job is constantly threatened if you don't do it their way.. What would you do let your family live on the street? Let your kids go hungry? You get back to me on that!

You talk about the character of people who work 40 to 60 hours a week to keep bare nessecities for their families. Or people who have suffered due to lay offs, or credit issues for living in these places. You may want to look in the mirror, backs are being turned on space because ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Is it ok to beat a man just because he is already down?

You explain to the kids that didn't get a birthday present, a summer vacation or the shoes they wanted/needed because Daddy is never around and some guy feels its ok not to pay him... So which guy should I tell my kids to use as a role model the guy that is rich off the hardships of others or the guy that breaks his back to try to do the right thing.

I'm sure you have never been in this position and can only imagine your actual affiliation with space properties but like everyone else you should take pride in everything you do, but don't you judge people because they don't have what you have but are trying to take pride in what they do or have and someone continues to beat them down..

Karma is a B***ch...I'm glad you got to meet me!

I am glad you said what you said. Not everyone sits around and does not work. People struggle to make ends meet these days. And living in conditions like that for something one is paying for is UNACCEPTABLE, period. No one should have to deal with flooding constantly and mold issues. That is ridiculous.

i was evicted by space properties in which it was an unlawful eviction. not to mention i only was in that apartment (hole in the wall) for 4 months for January to April of 2010. before moving in i gave them nearly $1,250 just to move in and January's rent. For the month of February, i had a local charity paid my rent. and in order for them to pay it, i had to become late in that month, and i was so that local charity paid my rent for that month.

space properties sent me a letter in the mail enclosed with a $177 electric bill. the electric bill account wasnt in my name that they had sent to me. and it also was sent to me on the date that they only gave me less than 48 hours to take action. the invoice dat on the bill was set in the middle of February. i got that letter on March 6th and the terminated my electric on the 8th. when i got the keys to the apartment, the first thing i did was to set up an account through dominion va power to have electricity in my apartment. mind you that this is what i had done way before i moved my things into my apartment. the day before i moved into my apartment, i went there with my fiancée and she showed me the apartment.
1. the electric was already on.
2. the model apartment and mines looked totally different
3. carpet was still dirty

to sum it all up i got evicted over this electric bill that i had no control over. i was already being billed by va power for the months of jan+feb which that is what they do because it was my first bill from them.
i was mistreated, disrespected, and i believe discrimination played a role in this

So let me get this straight! Because the economy sucks (whether it is Obama's fault, Bush's fault or whomever else YOU want to blame) It is perfectly ok to not pay employess, that if you see the previous comment do AMAZING WORK REMODELING WHAT TENANTS LEAVE BEHIND. It's ok to take advantage of people's hardships, It's ok for someone to give a company blood, sweat and tears and not pay them? It's ok to be away from your family and kids, to only come home and not feed them? I just want to get this right...

So if you go to work and you don't get paid your going to go home and say "OH WELL LET ME CALL OBAMA BEFORE I GO BACK TOMORROW TO CONTINUE TO NOT GET PAID, SINCE HE MESSED UP THE ECONOMY!" I think it is a great suggestion because he is our president let me let him know about this great company that doesn't take care of it's tenants, treats employees like dirt on their shoes and does not pay them for the hours they put in. I'm sure our democratic President would love to hear about this.

You are aware we live in America right? You are aware of laws right? You know it is illegal to not pay people for working right? You know it is illegal to discriminate against people no matter what their differences are right?

You can not blame the government for the way 1 man treats people.
