I'm thinking Obama is just a weak, wishy washy "LIBERAL. who does not have the nuts or the power to stand up to the corporate controlled right wing.( This is why he was allowed to run instead of Hillary and others not so easily controlled) The angry masses needed placated so they threw them Obama.
And I'm thinking the clueless little "puppet" W. Bush was heavily controlled by a more Nazi-like or Fascist backing. Big corporations grabbing for power wanting a strong military used for world domination ( and later used on it's own citizens when and if needed), attempts of massive censorship & the stripping of the protective laws of our basic freedoms ( patriot act, etc), and many other examples leading down this path. Using FEAR MONGERING to lull the stupid populace into allowing it all to happen easily.
Of course, the wars going badly, GREED and economic ruin halted this attempt ( at least for a while).
Now the standard view of "socialism" in this world would be more like the classic Mao Chinese government or the classic Russian communist type of rule. While not TRUE MARXIST regimes, these were based on Marxism, which would be TRUE SOCIALISM and about as close to socialism as it ever got.
I'd beware of the CORPORATE BACKED Fascist politicians out there. And the far right wing fruitcakes being used and led by the Fascist power brokers in this country.

The base problem is IGNORANT VOTERS installing the wrong people and allowing the system to be set up to bar anything other than a 2 party race controlled by money. The ones with THE MONEY control the government this way.
