It is a shame that an innocent man was killed by a 22 year old gun slinger as his father stood by and watched. How can you justify intimidating someone for 2 hours over a $600 bill at 8:30 in the evening. Then refusing to leave his residence at his request before shooting the man dead with 5 shots!!! HOW CAN THIS POSSIBLY NOT BE MURDER!!!!! The people of this county better stand up for justice before it personally affects you or one of your family members. This whole county stinks of corruption form the police, detectives, attorneys, prosecutors and judges. I guess as long as you have money or a name like Staker, you are above the law. Everyone in this county should contact the Ohio Atty General or the FBI and request an investigation. There are laws that need to be followed. Just because you have a CCW license, it does not give you the right to harass and KILL an INNOCENT MAN! Is a man's life worth $600 ???

I guess he better get his days of international travel over and done with, because once charged and convicted, any travel outside the U.S. is forbidden. Yes, you can still leave, but getting back in might be a problem. Upon attempted reentry is where they make the arrests for either attempted illegal reentry or violation of parole terms.
I bet if he hears the news that charges have been filed, he'll change his status from that of being on vacation, to that of blatantly running from the law.
At only 22 years of age though, and apparently quite dependent upon his parents, it's unlikely he could survive for long outside the states.
Getting back to the crime...I've been around a lot of drunken country boys in my days, and have seen various types of weapons pulled. Usually when this happens, it's between younger males, and the oldest male present always has the job of risking life and limb, by stepping between them. What shocks me about this case, is that the dad didn't do anything to defuse this situation that was obviously getting out of control.
All I know, is that if I ever pulled a gun on somebody, and my dad was there, he'd almost certainly step in front of me, and either tell me to shoot him instead, or take the guns away from both parties involved.
Why did Bob put his business above the welfare of his son? Why didn't he behave like a man, and tell them to stop the foolishness? Was Bob abused as a child and now thinks a good parent is supposed to let their kids do and get by with anything?
I might sound like I'm being mean here, but I'd seriously like to know, what was he thinking?!?

The question about Bob has a very simple answer in my opinion. He didn't do anything to stop it simply because he was a willing participant. He played cowboy along side his son until the shooting started, THEN he played victim.

I am sure the Mr. Staker is asking himself the same question.

I don't know them, but I have a feeling Jr. was able to convince his father this is how the situation should be handled. Sad situation for all involved.

No doubt. I feel bad for them, but at the same time, I'm shocked by how stupid they seem to be, and by how cold their hearts must have been to do something like this.
People treated Baldridge and Kissenger as monsters, but let's compare their case with Staker's.
Both killings were over debts. Neither killer (Baldridge or Staker) reported their actions to police for themselves. Both cases involved two or more men ganging up on just one.
The differences are, that Stakers have money, Baldridge et al did not. So Stakers couldn't have been as desperate to get their money. Baldridge was a drug addict, so I'm sure that caused him to want his money very badly, and also, the drugs may have clouded his judgement. Were Stakers sober when they did their killing?
I don't want to see any young man behind bars. However, I don't think we can just ignore this. Something needs to be done, so people will know, this isn't how you handle things.

What was he thinking?????MONEY....MONEY is the only thing they ever think about. They don't care about anyone but their self ,always have. Shame of the whole thing is they once again proved they are above the law. I was all for our sheriff but after this,ii could care less. Stakers should have been in jail at least until the investigation was over. It's just luck they didn't kill the guys wife and kids.

I agree with that. Too much corruption in Portsmouth. It is that way everywhere though. I think that in a town that size and with the net, we see it first hand now. We know that they are letting people slide. The law is not what you think it is. it is not like a chemical reaction, where you put several chemicals together and if they are the right ones they explode. The law only pursues those it wants to. It does not matter if you are guilty or not. That is the problem with the system. If you are in a wreck and the cop that shows up realizes that you was hit by an important person in town you will get a no fault or at fault from him. He won't say that the rich guy was at fault. That is just the way it is. They are protecting their jobs too. Those rich idiots would make sure that that cop did not stay on the force long.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Pisces

It's a great day for fixing anything that needs attention now. That might be a dripping tap, a sick child, an unpaid bill or a miffed partner. However, you'll do particularly well if you need to sort out something connected with official or joint finances or red tape. You might be asked to help someone deal with a bureaucratic problem, especially if they're elderly.
