Minford School Board member Anita McGinnis verbally resigned and left in the middle of the school board meeting in tears Tuesday night, after a series of disagreements with the public and other board members. Now, two community meetings scheduled for next week might be canceled until the board is re-organized.

The school board met in regular session Tuesday and were promptly met by members of the community who are upset with the district's plan to eliminate two bus routes and ask some parents to have their child meet buses at a designated stop, rather than continue door-to-door bus service.

Trust me, I hate to see anyone lose their jobs. One of the bus drivers is a friend of mine. HOWEVER, if the bus cut backs can prevent losing teachers but still maintain bus schedules, why wouldn't the public be for this? At least there aren't teaching jobs cut which would equal bigger class sizes and less personal direct attention to the students. What's the big deal with VoTech kids ridin the bus with Webster kids? If the bus is going by anyway, why wouldn't you contract that out?

In my opinion we should do away with buses and make kids walk, no matter the distance or the climate. If they make it they will be stronger for it and if they don't well thats natural selction, the weak usually don't make it far anyway....plus it might just cut down on obesity....and if kids arent fat anymore then we can cut all that funding for those anti-obesity programs in our schools and buy back the buses...there I solved the problem.

I have mentioned this before.

On the 2 mile stretch of Pleasant Ave. from
Rt 139 to the foot of Scherer Hollow Hill , you
will find, during the school year, buses from
Portsmouth City, Clay Township and New Boston
Village (huh, what's with that?)hauling sometimes
one child to take it to it's door.

This is the type of repetitive waste that our
school systems have become. Tax eaters !!
Ooops, they need another levy, running out of
cash again.
Just curious

Maybe if Minford would would just keep the bus routes in Minford for the exception of vo-tech kids, they may save a lot of money. Can someone tell me why they run a bus twice a day(morning/afternoon) to the scioto shoe mart? A bus stop in the heart of Sciotoville. Why? Maybe that is a route they are cutting. If not, maybe it should be.
I would be mad if my kid or any Minford kid lost any type of service because the school was to worried about servicing kids in other districts before their own.
Any thoughts????

Because Minford or any school is mandated to make runs to notre dame. Don't ask me why? It's crazy. We lose our federal $ for those kids and then have to take them to that school. I guess now Minford isGonna pay the parents to take then. Unreal!!!!

How about letting the school administration do their jobs and butt out?

How stable of a board member was she to abruptly quit? Unreliable! What is next? Holding her breath?

has money, why dont they run their own buses? Have the parents take their kids to a drop off point then have Notre dame buses pick them up!

You haven't seen nothing yet.
Wait
until they repeal SB5.
Then is when the teachers and the others on state retirement plans get the axe.

Good riddance. If she can't keep her emotions out of professional dialogue then she isn't cut out to manage other people's money anyways.

What she did is basically the equivalent of a teenager stomping out of the room for not getting what they wanted.

She should have never been in the position to make important decisions; she clearly lacks maturity.

All that aside, I would be willing to bet that she had a family member that ends up getting laid off because of the decision. If that is true, that makes her unethical as well.

Be careful what you wish for. I think it is funny the way the cry babies are acting like Mommy took their bottle away from them. When it is overturned they wont have a job to go to, but I hope their unemployment checks work out for them since they will have no job to whine about.

in the past these board members have only looked out for their family and friends most of them are related to some one.i know they got rid of one lady who was a good person and did her job .they done her dirty,i dont see how they could lay down and sleep after what they done to her.but i guess mark caudills son needed her job. i think the board members need to be replaced . the ones we have now are a disgrace to this community.

If your talking about Anita McGinnis she was upset because she had to give her $125 that the board members receive every month or so. Troy Huff had suggested that they give that part of the money to the buses' for gas purposes and that is when she had gotten up and walked out. As a concerned parent I was at the board meeting she also wanted the kids to walk to the end of their road. Can anyone see kindergarten kids waiting for the bus at 8:30 in the morning on 335 or 139, the busy roads. That is very dangerous! An that's exact what Anita had wanted! I'm glad she is gone and has been replaced. At least some board members care about others' children!

Aren't you the guy that stomped out of the room when hypothetically asked how you'd react if you had a son who said he was gay?

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Virgo

You're feeling restless and need to introduce as much variety into your day as possible. However, you'll want this to be on your own terms, and you certainly won't like it if plans are changed without your consent or you feel you've lost control of the situation. Try to take everything in your stride, otherwise you'll end up feeling exhausted and frazzled.
