The problem is, people think if it's on Topix then it must be all over the county as the talk of the town. Truth be told, it's not! There is a small group of people who hate the Staker name, and friends present and past of the Holsingers who believe this should cause a huge uprising. It won't. Becuase...it doesn't affect 80% of the county. It's conversation and that's it. If it's on Topix, it doesn't mean the world cares. Stay off Topix with it, and use that time to organize a fundraiser for the family or something productive.*smh*

I don't think even a grand jury could figure out who's the dumbest. You don't point a gun at someone unless you're going to use it! Period! Don't give me no excuses. Don't have your wife crying about it on tv... Pay what you owe or give it up!.. But on the other hand it's just as dumb to pound on someone's door for nearly two hours. And if it's self defense, why did he have to make swiss cheese out of him? Both sides sound stupid and I wish this topic would go away!

I was on campus (SSU) today for classes and heard everyone talking about how much bullshit it is that this guy hasn't been charged. It may not be all over the county but it sure spreads like wildfire around here. I also heard a few professors talking about writing some national news stations and court tv. Hope it works!

Dont see national media getting involved. Not a big enough story. Had the shooter shot 5 people instead of one person 5 times... Then maybe. But sadly, hundreds of people get shot everyday.

Just so you knuckle draggers know this case if it goes to trial WILL NOT be tried in Scioto county. A change of venue will be requested and granted by the court so the accused will have a fair trial.

I'm not saying that no one is talking about it. Had a friend that was out of town when it happend. They came back, we discussed it for all of 10 mins, shared our opinions about it, then we went swimming. We haven't discussed it since and probably won't until after grand jury proceedings. It just doesn't consume everyone's life like the people on Topix feel it should. The situation or the outcome just doesn't affect me or my group of friends. Which is the way it is in most of the county because most don't go to "buy here, pay here" places, or RTOs (bec we're smart enough to know they're rip offs). We don't go to "checks for cash" places (more rip offs). We don't own guns, we pay our bills.

Then there are the rest of the citizenship of the county who are drug users, pill poppers, thieves (don't take this to mean I'm speaking of Holsinger), deadbeat dads and moms, people who lose custody of their kids and don't care, disability-fakers, etc. They don't give a damn about anything, but themselves and have no opinion on anything.

People are discussing it, but it's not a revolution starting issue. BTW, I'm an SSU student and you're comment about the faculty writing to news agencies would impress me only depending of which professors you were speaking.

A man is dead and it is getting stale, not worth talking about. The comments on this post lead me to believe there is no hope for our area. Furthermore if Holsinger would have shot Staker would it be self defense considering Staker had a gun? There is a case going on rIght now out of Otway where the roles are reversed and Terry Shepherd has been in jail sInce. Staker needs to answer for some poor decisions.
