Does Portsmouth police discriminate against the poor,homeless,or less fortunate????

No. It's only that many times "the poor,homeless,or less fortunate" are the ones that break the law. Dean Conklin used to say "Poor folks got poor ways". It's tough being poor but you still can't break the law and expect to avoid punishment

This statement alone makes it sound true, you knowing them by name, having conversations with them. Must be true

Judging by the types of people who fly through stop signs, I would have to say they do not discriminate. They let everyone go through them. Perhaps if they started writing more tickets, maybe our town could upgrade the roads from 3rd World to just above barely maintained.

Hanging Rock is know for what? "Speed Trap" So, most slow down..Portsmouth could be the same way if police get out or their car and start writing tickets. Some have problems doing just that..."Getting out of their car".

I have seldom seen Portsmouth Police have someone pulled over and giving someone a ticket. I have however watched Portsmouth police at a traffic light, watch someone run a red light and look over and shrug their shoulders as if to say "What can ya do?" and drive on.

Not at all. As a matter of fact they bend over backwards to give them everything they want. Being poor or whatever is really rewarded in Portsmouth. The living is really easy for folks like that.

You really have to go out of your way to get yourself arrested, or even noticed, by the PPD.

I think just maybe their really not as bad as first thought

They do get paid to go to court. Minimum of two hours comp time. Once you have accumulated the limit then the city has to pay you for it.

Running traffic is always discretionary, even when you're working STEP. It definitely takes a lower prioirity than any other type of call. It's also hard to get officers to do much traffic work when their morale is low. It's not my place to call that card but it is common.

Sorry, they are only pricks when they need to be. Most are decent guys doing a thankless job.

The ones whom hate them the most are usually ones that belong behind bars.

Leave it up to a lawyer to defend the cops. You Portsmouth attornies are nothing but patsies for the prosecutors and judges. You sell out your own clients so that you can get away with the crimes you commit. Tell you what, Portsmouth: The next time an attorney throws you to the wolves, do the world a favor and kil the bum.

Which lawyer defended the cops? From what I hear there are some lawyers the cops hate.

I think, all things considered, Portsmouth cops are pretty cool. And I'd rather they fight real crime than writing traffic tickets and wasting time on other petty crap.

People, do not let this drug using, underage child molester, felon fool you. He is worthless any the cops know it also.

One night i was sitting at the light by Oberlings and there was a city cop behind me and a tractor trailer came flying past in the next lane and blew right on through the light. Guess what the cop did, NOTHING just sat there. i bet he didn't even see it cause he was probably on the computer or his phone.

Cops are people too and you would hate on them if you didnt do anything wrong.
