Tattoos are not trashy IMO. They are cool and to each their own. I do like hearing the stories on why when and where. I can't think of anything I could put on my body permanently.

I am proud of my tattoos. I currently have 3 and each one is in regards to my 5 children (one of them passed away in 1992). I also have 4 grandchildren and one on the way. I have a respectable job and am a respected member of the community, don't do drugs of any kind, and have an occassional alcoholic beverge. I pay my own bills and own my own vehicle. I don't treat others with disrespect and strive to give a hand up to those that need it. A tattoo does not define a person's ability to be good or bad; a tattoo is a work of art that is expressed by its meaning and placement on the body.

Truth, I suppose you have an opinion on piercings that are anywhere except the ear. Piercings are another form of artist expression and unlike tattoos, piercings can be taken out and allowed to grow shut. Artist exression is one of the freedoms that we have in this country, and if the body is the canvas then so be it, your opinion is just that, an opinion but it does not have to be so negative.

Apply for a job at my place with a neck tattoo or metal in your face and you won;t even get to fill out an application. I can tell by looking at you that you don't have any sense and are too dumb to work for me.

I work in the medical field for a pretty prestigious practice & there are several in our group that have tattoos. I for one, don't have any, but don't judge someone if they have tattoos. As long as you carry yourself well & are educated on the job for which you are applying, who says you can't have a job!? Most of the time, people with their tattoos & want a decent job, usually have enough sense to cover them up.

Deacon, your comment shows that you are judgemental and that you discriminate. I have a professional career in downtown Nashville. I am college educated and very well spoken. I currently have 3 tattoos and one of them is visible and I have a facial piercing, in know way does my choice of body art deter from my position or career. I have raised 4 children (and 4 grandchildren) and I have counseled my children extensively on the concept and reasoning of tattoos and placement and the stigma that goes with them when applying for employment. If people weren't so small minded and look past the package they may find a valuable employee or a good, productive, caring member of society. A society that we have to share with bigots and hypocrits.

Tattoo artists make good money. There apparently is a big demand for tattoos or they wouldn't be a tattoo parlor on every other corner.....

my fiancee, myself, and my whole family and most of my friends have tattoos. some are in remeberance of a good friend we had pass away at the age of 16. some are for our parents who have passed away or who aren't able to be here. some are just of memories of fun nights or of a time in our lives. everyone has their own reason, and their own right. it is a form of expression, of feelings and of family and of memories. it is a way of life for some. just bc they aren't for you doesn't mean that you have the reason nor right to judge anyone, or to judge a whole bunch of people, just bc of how you feel personally. walk in someone else's shoes and you may understand why they do what they do but until then it is honestly none of your business weather they have them or not cuz when they are 80 and their skin saggs they will still know what they meant when they were done and they are the ones who have to live with that. if you don't like it don't look at them.

My guess is if you manage to make it to 80 and are stuck in a nursing home that will be the least of your worries and the last thing on your mind.

I have 2 tattoos. I was in the military. Both can be covered or displayed as I choose.

I'm critical of the stupidity of putting them on your necks/faces/knuckles/anywhere you can't cover them up to look professional.

I DO consider myself smarter than most, and I have the paperwork to prove it. I also fear no man, so I don't have any compunction about speaking my mind.

This is AMERICA. You have a God given right to be as stupid as you please. I also have the God given right not to hire or associate with you.

Those who whine about being judged are usually the fringe people who most look down on. Life is judgemnetal. From the minute your born, you are called 'beautiful', when a kid your a 'good' or 'bad' kid. you make grades in schoool to indicate if you are being judged a pass or fail. onwards onwards onwards.

LIFE is about being judged...Quit whining, only losers whine about being judged.

Deacon- you sound like a P.O.S that has problems with yourself and lift yourself up by puttin others down or you're on one huge horse an stuck an prob scared to come down. You're a dam pessimist! Your papers don't prove sh*t! A lot of ppl have papers for something. Some ppl have a bachelors degree an still doin jobs that require G.E.D. Who cares if you were in the military. Does that make you better than anyone? You fear no man? That's good for you.. Me either. Only one thing everyone should fear an that's God! There is only one judgment in everyones lifetime that means something an its not your opinion of someone either.. Its not made while you're livin but how you lived.. God knows all.. So either leave your little pitty party or get off your high horse..yes this is AMERICA an free to be as stupid as you please but its one thing for you to act it but its a whole diff thing when you get on here, open your mouth, an remove all doubt for the world to see how stupid you really are! So read this ponder on it for at least a day, have paper an pen/pencil on call at all time for that day an jot it down if needed so you don't forget any of your criticism you have to put.. So that means don't post on here til at least 0437 on sept. 3, 2011.. Thanks!
