Franco found guilty in Cottonwood bus crash

Full story: TwinCities.com

While her verdict was read Wednesday night, Olga Franco sat ashen-faced and silent, listening with headphones to the words of a translator as the names of children killed or hurt in a bus crash last winter were ...

It was a terrible, tragic accident that would have never taken place if this country would enforce the immigration laws that are ignored for the sake of greed by the corportations and individuals who exploit them.
As Gomer Pyle would say, shame, shame, shame.

She was employed as Alianis Morales from Porto Rico.

You do realize that if a minority presents the required identification, it is unconstitutional to question it ... don't you?

From reading the postings for the last several days on this case, there was a lot of doubt about her being found guilty based on the ploys of the defense attorney. I think when he introduced the abuse excuse, it may have pushed it too far. Welcome to Shakopee Olga, you will be a hit there!!

Nice job jurors. Having to sit through all the Voodoo science and outright lies that were put forward by the defense had to be hard. We can't deport her as she would be right back here within 2 years. Let her sit in prison for 50-60 years and then deport her. We are paying for a record number of prisoners now I think we can afford to keep her for the rest of her life.

Did everyone hear Arnold's idea of how to save over $1 billion for CA? He said if they reduced the prison sentences of the illegals currently in the system they could save that much money! Can you imagine applying that to this case???

Don't forget the ploys of the prosecution. Don't think that this is an exclusive club.

Why on earth would we deport her now? Had a chance a year earlier and didn't. Of course this is standard procedure these days until they commit a serious crime and people get killed then they take it seriously.

Will anything change? I doubt it.

Swift justice must be done. Life with out parole. And she must pay for her lawyers. I sure hope the tax payers are not paying for the illeagles (shysters) lawyers.

Law enforcement in this country is reluctant to deal with illegals when stopped for driving without a "valid" license. This happens every day. Why?

In this case, she was stopped a year earlier and not deported because it is too much of a hassle. Besides they will just come back.

This kind of logic is akin to not prosecuting a bank robber because he will just get out of prison and rob banks again. Good grief.

I can't quite believe the defense. So she had a hard time entering this country ILLEGALLY, finding a job and building a life. What does that have to do with her crashing her vehicle? I would think it would make her respect even more what she had.
Then they throw in the abuse card. Again, what does this have do do with her driving?
It seemed like they were throwing out theories and seeing what stuck.

There were two eyewitnesses who saw her boyfriend running from the scene. The DNA on the airbag was from an unidentified male. If she had been a teenager from Edina this trial would not even have taken place. This trial was not about justice and justice has not been served. This trial is about hatred and bigotry and revenge. Perhaps she was guilty, but there was far more evidence that placed her guilt in doubt. Shame on us all for allowing this to happen. May justice serve each of us more fairly if and when we are the accused.

She still would have crashed if she was legal. Being illegal or not doesn't determine if you can drive or not.

And you buy from those corporations every day of your life, so until your ready to literally make your own food, gas, and everything you buy at the local Target, stop complaining.

I don't see this much venom for the suburbanite who gets drunk (willingly) and crashes his car into the kid on HWY 61. But oh wait, he's not hispanic, so there are no crys for "execute him"

Um, actually what he was saying is that if they reduced the sentances for NON VIOLENT OFFENDERS (ie minor drug crimes, burglary, petty theft etc) it would save the state money. Just so happens, the majority of "illegals" in the prison system are there for those type of offenses. CA has strict punishment, literally a simple petty theft can get you 25 to life (similar to GA or AL). It's the fine upstanding citizens that are locked up for murder, rape, etc.

Not unconstitutional. It is illegal though. Just thought I would give you some "real information" Mr. "Porto Rico"

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Cancer

Be careful today Cancer, because your emotions could cloud certain issues as they often to and leave you feeling confused. You should be especially wary of believing what you want to believe, rather than believing the evidence in front of your eyes. It's easy to kid yourself now about someone's motives or reliability, even if deep down you know that you're telling yourself a load of old twaddle.
