Contracting with the Sheriff's Office should be used only as a last resort. I don't understand what the hurry is to contract. Can the police department lay it's patrolman? If that doesn't save enough money then they can look at contracting. Dose somebody on the city council have an ax to grind? The only way to save money through contracting is to cut services.
