Ayn Rand is now one of the central intellectual and cultural inspirations for the base of the Republican Party. RAND'S INFLUENCE ON GOP "For over half a century," says Jennifer Burns, a recent biographer of the novelist, "Rand has been the ultimate gateway drug to life on the right." And with good reason. Besides her prominence in the Tea Party's intellectual and cultural lexicon, some of the Republican Party's leading lights have cited Rand by name as an inspiration. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) said she was the reason he entered public service. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) called Atlas Shrugged "his foundational book." Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is an avowed fan and quotes extensively from Rand's novels at Congressional hearings. His father Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) told listeners that readers ate up Rand's Alas Shrugged because "it was telling the truth," and even conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas references her work as influence in his autobiography -- and apparently has his law clerks watch the film adaptation of The Fountainhead. The phenomenon holds amidst the right-wing media as well: Rush Limbaugh called her "brilliant," Glenn Beck's panel on Rand featured the president of the Ayn Rand Institute Yaroom Brook, and Andrew Napolitano

Search; what have the Tea Party and the Church of Satan got in common? Search; Tea Party - Ayn Rand Search; Ayn Rand - Anton lavey Search; the Billionaires who Bankroll the Tea party The Republican Tea Party is Bankrolled by these Billionaires for the purpose of getting rid of all social safety net programs, including Social Security, Medicare, and Unemployment Insurance. The Tea party is built around the philosophy of the atheist Ayn Rand. Ayn Rand is their Messiah and her book, "Atlas Shrugged", is their Bible. To understand the Tea Party take a long hard look at Ayn Rand. Ayn Rand worshipped the industrial and business tycoons of her day. Rand's likes and dislikes exactly mirrored those of her tycoon heroes. Ayn Rand despised Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, along with all other social safety net programs, and she wanted them all abolished. Ayn Rand said, "Social Security and Unemployment Insurance are hammocks that the people relax in, and these programs encourage laziness and a reluctance to work in the people." Ayn Rand taught total selfishness and personal greediness. Rand despised the poor and the working class. Ayn Rand said, "The poor and the working class are parasites feeding on the wealth accumulated by their interllectual superiors." Ayn Rand despised Christianity because it teaches love and compassion, attributes that Rand detested. Ayn Rand said, "Christianity is a sign oof weakness in a capitalist society."

I've actually read 'Atlas Shrugged' instead of just the clift notes. If you believe that YOU are entitled to keep what YOU earn, this book and philosophy is for you. If you believe the federal government is the best source of information for how many squares of tp to wipe with, what kind of light bulbs to burn and what your 'fair share' of taxes should be you probably won't enjoy it much. Neither will able bodied adults content to sit on their ass and let others provide food, clothing and shelter for them, but then they're probably to lazy to read a 1100 page book anyway.

I don't know that the TEA party claims to be a Christian organization although I'm sure most members would claim to be Christians. I'm also not sure what someone's religious beliefs has to do with their position on government and tax policy. A better question might be why any Christian would want to vote Democrat under that party's current leadership and platform.

Politics a dirty business, sure is. Ted Kennedy and the women who died in his car comes to mind.

Kennedy, they were all drunks and women chasers just like Clinton, I have no respect for those people, Money got them in the whitehouse. The people I have respect for Rep. or Dem. are the ones that won by the over wheming vote of the people and they kept my respect if they did thier job, Congress is never going to let the opposing side get anywhere. Now if you vote and i assume you do, or we woud'nt be having this conversation..VOTE for someone who had the same strugles as you...Now thats a President...for example..President Obama.
