You are right Anonymous it did belong to CC Fuller. Other pilots that used it were James Muse, James Henry Workman, Billy Boone.and Charlie Penman. Charlie was head of the Civil air patrol and now has a landing strip at his house. He doesnt fly anymore and his old plane is still out there. From what i hear its quite a collectors item and worth a ton of money. Some Italian copy of a Cesana or something.

It has been so long ago.

I remember in the early 70's(maybe about 71 or 72 ???) when the Marston airport was opened officially. Mr. Earl Walker (and maybe Dr. Barnes, the dentist) were giving free plane rides. It was cool, and was my first time in an airplane. My brother and I went up with Mr. Walker. Also, that day, there were so many people at the event, someone could have easily walked into a propellar, and Cuz Moreland was yelling at people to be careful. Can anybody else remember this event? I can't believe the Drerup clan was not out there.... Gumbo

It's kind of funny but I can't remember what the boy's name was.

It's kind of funny but I can't remember what the boy's name was. Anonymous, C.C. Fuller's son's name was Eastmon.(That may not be spelled correctly.) He is now deceased. He also had to sisters, Kaki and I think the other is named Carol, but not sure. I once lived in a little white house just across from those red buildings on MacArthur Avenue. The house belonged to C.C.'s mom. All of that has long since been torn down and sold off as lots to build on. Very few things stay the same as the years go by.

I mean he also had two sisters not to sisters. Gosh I have cobwebs in my head this morning. You caused it though. I went to bed last night going through the alphabet trying to think of Eastmon's name and got up thinking about it again this a.m. Sure am glad I remembered, cause I wouldn't have had a very good day.

As soon as I read that name it took me back to when he and I use to ride the horse his dad bought for him. They kept it in a pen in the lumber yard. I believe the horse's name was Mary West. As for his sisters, I never knew them. Back to the horses. He also had a Shetland Pony. My dad told me a story about that pony. There was a black man that worked at the lumber yard and had a house I believe it was inside the yard the best I remember. His name was John James. I used to play with his boy also. Anyway John use to feed the horses. He was feeding the horses one day and the Shetland pony bit him. John hit that pony with his fist and almost knocked the pony out. Needless to say the pony never tried to bite John again. Sorry this was so long but one memory brings up anpther and another. As I have stated many times, my childhood memories of living in Portageville were the greatest times.

We also got permission from Mr. C.C. to keep a horse there on MacArthur Avenue in those red buildings across from our house. It was a quarter horse named Flash. It actually was my nephew's horse (I was raised by his dad and mom.) I would not even try to ride that horse, but one Saturday morning, during the house cleaning hours, my nephew had saddled him and asked me to get on behind and he would just ride me out in the field behind our house. Old stupid me, I crawled on in my pajamas no less, and he took off with me on there and took me all over town in my pajamas. Me begging the entire time for him to take me home and he just laughed and kept going. Little stink. I was about sixteen years old running around town on a horse wearing pajamas. Thank goodness, they didn't look too revealing. LOL I am so glad you have such fond memories of your years in Portageville. I too, enjoyed those years. I had a lot of wonderful friends that I have kept to this day.

I had a lot of wonderful friends that I have kept to this day. You mention friends you kept. I regret that I didn't make a bigger attempt of staying in touch with some of the kids I grew up with. I have kind of been searching the net to see if I could find any of my classmates. Sad to say that I found that too many have passed..

Are you looking mainly for the 1956 classmates or are their others also. If I had some info on who you would like to reach I may be able to help with that. Several here in Portageville would be helpful to me. Problem is, I can't post their names on here. Youse just gonna hafta get your better half and drive down when you get yourself all lined out. We will look up DD and a few of the others and have a big gab session. Even Ole Otis may be interested in joining us. And, all the others if they knew when to come. Just not on holidays, because I spend those with family.

There were a few friends that were a little younger and some that were older, but mostly the classmates. I talked to Ralph Howard's daughter a month or so back after I read the obituary of his wife and found out that Bobby Ray had passed. I had a nice conversation with her.

Gumbo Farmer 16 wrote: <quoted text> Early 70's....CB radio....does anybody remember Mr. Bugg (handle was Battery Charger). He used to talk to the truckers all the time. Speaking of Saturday's, everybody would come into town to get groceries. When I sacked groceries at Baker's Bi-Rite, it was a lot of work that day. there was one lady who would buy about 15 loaves of bread to make sandwiches the following week for the farm hands. She would really watch to make sure we didn't smash the bread, and she let us know loud and clear...."smash the bread, and you're dead..." Gumbo I built a house behind Battery Charger on Brown Drive(land used to belong to CC Fuller). When BC would crank it up, his voice could be heard on my TV! I asked Jim McKeel about it, as he was a ham operator. Jim said it was illegal to jack his transmitter up that high but not much anyone could do about it. By the way, used to car pool with Jim and others to NMCC, what ever happened to him?

I had a friend that owned a CB store.(not in Portageville) I worked a regular job through the week but sometimes I made more money on Friday night and Saturday afternoons at his CB shop. I would install power mikes and do SWR's. Thanks for bringing back that memory.

Old Battery Charger. I was a paulbearer at his funeral. I sold him a 1500 watt linear when I upgraded to 5000 watts. Thats why he came over the tv. I came over the Catholic Churches PA system one Sunday and I was using some rough language. Boy was Mom pissed at me.....
