Who are you to comment? Jack Rhodes would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He would walk old ladies across the street, not mug them. His smile would not just light up a room, but an entire building. Until you have mugged someone, you shouldn't be commenting.

I'll vouch for Jack.
He would indeed give you the shirt off his back and walk old ladies across the street........right before he violently mugs them. He's good like that.

Society failed us by not helping him before he resorted to crime. Racism, chronic unemployment, and poverty left him little choice than to steal $50.00

He failed himself. It's called choices, and he made his. Society, racism (of course you had to put that in there), chronic unemployment, and poverty didn't make this idiot do anything. HE CHOSE his fate. I hope he gets three square beaten a day, everyday for those 75 years.

I'm sure he worked really hard in school and in his life. I'm sure he also set goals other than getting hats to match his sneakers. So yeah, its society's fault.

Looks like society just took away his need for money.
Society also failed that 101-yr old woman. Who the heck left the cage door open???

I agree with you, it's everyone elses fault. God forbid he should do something for himself, he might get hurt. We must program everyone like robots so they fit into the norm of society.

Repeating what you learned from the excuse makers in your life,'Rev' Jackson,'Rev' Sharpton,'Rev' Wright. Society didn't fail him, he was failed the moment his daddy knocked up his mother. Odds are she was a teenager/truant/dropout and he was in the wind/jail. Poverty is born under those circumstances thanks to two irresponsible people. Was he chronically unemployed because he was a gang banger and not a student, probably. Racism, any easy one for losers to lay on society for all of their failures. Basically this guy was probably born to savages(chronic welfare and making babies) and easily followed in their foot steps. There are many kids born to poor parents both black and white who are good 'role models' and get the direction in life they need, then there is this animal, a predator on society for his entire life. The enablers/excuse makers make it the fault of someone else, it's what they were taught by their 'leaders'.

'In imposing the sentence, Justice Gregory L. Lasak of State Supreme Court in Queens lashed out at the defendant, Jack Rhodes, 47, for preying on older women, and noted that his sentence added up to almost one year for every dollar he stole from his victims.'

I think the sentence should be one year for every year of the victims age he attacked. By my calculations that would be about 237 years.

Let's hope this guy doesn't get clemency from the Governor on his way out the door in 2010.

So true! He was merely redistributing wealth from the old ladies to himself. Yes, Obama's government will do it a little more discretely, but who are we to judge Mr. Rhodes' methods?

Hate crimes are worse than murder, unless the murder itself is also a hate crime. I can't think of anything worse than a hate crime, including rape, arson, manslaughter, etc. If I can just figure out what a hate crime actually is...

Are you serious? Please tell me you're not. In the end the choice was his to commit the crime and on a 101 year old lady.

He is nothing but a cowardly piece of shyt, poor excuse for a human being! And you're defending his behavoir, which says a lot about you!

At minimum wage, he makes $50 before quittin' time.

Doing it his way, he makes it after 50 years in a max security joint.

Precisely what do I owe this guy?
