I've been here for over 5 years and can't believe what has happened to Port St. Lucie. It seems like the people are getting more and more rude every day. I might as well just move back down south! Does anyone agree?

I lived in Lake Charles for just over 2 years. I rented so that I could check out the neighborhood before I built a house in there. St Lucie West was the place to be in the day, but they are destroying that with the new commercial buildings. They could have stuck Home Depot and Walmart in the industrial park, still providing the convienence without the eyesore. You must be retired with children NOT living at home. Because if your a family there is NO way you can think the people in Lake Charles are not rude, Ill even say DOWN RIGHT MEAN when it comes to children. That community was advertised "for families", I found the opposite to be true.

St Lucie, has alot of problems. More than most Cities it's size. If your retired and living on a pension, your children are grown, and you will never need assistance with law enforcement Then ST LUCIE is definately the place for you to live.

I HATE PSL, are you sure you're not a PSL resident trying to deter people from moving to PSL.I find it amazing that someone would spend so much time bashing a town.It must of been terrible for you.Try to put it behind you and move on.

For those who think people are rude in PSL, perhaps you don't realize that you have not yet become acclimated to our Southern Hospitality and laid back style of calm & peacefulness. If you prefer the hustle & bustle of the North, please leave so we can enjoy our peacefulness that we reloacted here for many years ago.

People can be rude anywhere (however, upon a recent trip to NCarolina, I found the people there to be unusually NICE :o) But in reality, if you're trying to hide from rude people and rude behavior, you will soon find yourself living the 'hermit life'. Its probably better to not let it bother you to much- don't take it personally, just know that the person is the one with the problem, not you.

I have lived here in PSL for 10 years and just like everywhere else that I have lived, I find that you get what you give.

Yea, there are the people who don't wave thank you when you let them in front of you in traffic, and the ones who just walk on in without saying a word when you hold the door for them. However, doing those things makes me feel better. You should try it..... And again, there are the people who are very nice and appreciate those little things that others do.

crime is up, the hurricanes caused alot of stress, the traffic is a nightmare, SLC has the highest rate of Aids in FL. HMMMMM, kinda sounds like NYC without Broadway, the Macy's Parade, Times Square, Rockefeller Center or the thousands of other reasons to go somewhere.

I think I may have to disagree. I moved here from PA about six months ago to experience the calm & laid back life of the South. Well besides that astronomical prices of homes and the impossability of obtaining homeowner's insurance coverage, you then have the most awful school system (in my opinion) that one person will ever encounter. Most likely because they pay the PSL school teachers so little money??? It is my own fault I'm sure. I chose PSL over Stuart or other areas of Florida. The job opportunities are no where to be found!!! If you find a job - don't expect to make much money at all. Yes the weather is beautiful and no I don't think the people are that rude (not comparred to PA at least) I just think the people don't move as quickly or something??? I am still trying to understand all of it? Is it really possible that it can suck that bad? Oh and any single mothers with children - don't even bother coming because the day care programs are just ??????? Let's just say you can't afford to rent, work, have kids and get day care subsidy. All this growth and the programs are set that career focused (educated) moms with 4 kids can't get help with child care unless they make 33,000 or less a year. Oh and they have over 360 families on the waiting list??? It's like pretty much forcing a single mom to go on welfare vs. work...I truly hope something changes or we are leaving as well :(

I just moved here from southern Fl, and I have to say, I have found the younger people here in PSL to be great....anywhere I have gone, the people that are working are sooooooooo great...kind, willing to help and smiling. Some of the people I have encountered in the stores(co-shoppers) leave a little to be desired, imoatient and on the rude side. A mixture like any pkace esle. All in all I really like it here. Except for the school system, I have not yet figured that out

I've been here 15 years. The problem with PSL is it grew too big too fast. It's very stressful when a trip to WalMart (SLW especially) takes almost 2 hours and 45 mins of that are spent waiting in line! PSL never had the neighborhood feel and probably never will. In our neighborhood everyone kind of keeps to themselves. Our neighbors are friendly but quiet. No, they didn't bring out the welcome wagon, but we also didn't expect it. They wave, we wave, they go to work, we go to work...pretty boring. Where have you experienced this rudeness? Everyone we hold the door for says thank you.

PSL is no longer a nice place to be. Don't get me wrong, it used to be nice. Twenty years ago. I agree, many problems do exist here. Outside influence from "pop culture" has hoodlems and "thugs" causing disturbances with there lack of respect. However, the older generations are no better. The attitudes and badgering of those who do not throw rose pedals at their feet has worn thin. Traffic sucks, mostly due to those driving within who do not think of others. People are rude. I have been to seventeen states and four countries. They are rude every where. Yes we are in the south. Southern haospitality has not been lost, you just simply need to drive five hours north to be in the respectful south. PSL seems like NY, because every body here seems to be from NY. If it is so great in NY and you did everything different and better there. Then pack up, move on, and leave us alone........because we don't care about how it's done in NY. That's why we live in FL.

Well my family and I have been here for going on 3 years now bad move. 1st of all as soon as I moved here from coral springs A school system I found out how crappy this on is, so you are foced to get a 2nd job to send you kid to private school which is 600 a month. Then you have another baby and find out what a night mare to drs are here so you drive to plam beach. Oh yeah and that we now live in one of the united states most toxic citys according to a Womans day magazine and national geo. and hearing the deaths of children from brain and other cancers scares the hell out of you.
Oh traffic a complete joke people think its bad down south try getting somewhere in 20 min here.
A my favorite part I have never lived in a neighborhood with people who have so many issues my god the cheater to the bitch of the block the spy and so many more I feel like I an living a tv show

Hope to be moved soon

I've been here 18 months. I pay two HOAs. We elect board members in Country Club Estates who are then pushed out of office for top secret reasons. Maint and HOA dues are up over 112% in this short period.
I think we should plow down the gates and turn it over to the city. Home prices are 50% of purchase price and fees are up. The building isspector who inspected my home didn't know anything about buildings so dodn't notice that the roof was caving in and the roof leaked throughout the house. I had to pay out of pocket because of crooked insurance companies. They have no shame here.

port st. lucie is just like any other place, just different people. i lived in palm beach and martin county for 13 years each, and you 'll find the same level of rudeness everywhere. the st. lucie county school system does suck, though. i wasn't allowed to walk my son to class when he was late. they said it was against the rules. what the hell is that all about?

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Aries

Don't get embroiled in a bad-tempered skirmish today, for it might turn into more than that if you aren't careful. Everyone seems to be ratty and argumentative, but once you let the first spat take place it's effectively declaring open season. Even though things seem out-of-joint, keep your lines of communication open.
