The proponents of Prop 8 are trying to sell this assault on the fundamental rights of Lesbians and Gays in California as somehow being "pro-marriage and children" and hopefully the majority of voters aren't going to buy into that fraud. No so-called traditional marriage that is failing will ever be saved by denying the right of same-sex couples to marry and how this actually helps any child is really beyond me. The reality is that this measure will only hurt the relationships of same-sex couples by forcing them into second class status and hurt the children of these couples by denying their parents the right to marry. So just how pro-marriage and children have these people deluded themselves that this really is? The pamphlets talked about in the article proclaim that the state should be doing more to encourage families to stay together, but there seems to be absolutely nothing in this particular measure to accomplish that goal. The real truth behind Prop. 8 is that it is motivated by at best intolerance of others who are not like themselves or at worst, out and out bigotry against Lesbians and Gays. Why else propose a constitutional amendment to strip an exsisting right from a group that you are not a part of?

According to Frank Schubert,'Yes on 8' campaign manager, the mobilization of LDS (Mormon) volunteers could save his campaign up to $26 million in costs related to micro-targeting persuadable voters.

That would have been true of slavery in 1789. It would have been true of laws prohibiting racial intermarriage in 1930.

It's the bizarre voyeuristic habits of people like you constantly imagining us naked and engaging in sexual acts that's a really big part of the problem of being able to engage in a rational civil discussion of the real issues involved here. To put it it to you bluntly, keep your dirty little mind out of our bedrooms and we'll be able to talk things out.

Gay marriage is pro-family, since many gay couples have children. As a society we ought to support stable families.

Either the state should get out of the marriage business entirely - make them all civil unions - or allow gay marriage.

Churches are free to recognize whichever marriages they choose.

Don't like gay marriage? Don't have one!

In the end. You know when you pass away and move on. Does that gay couple that lives next door affect your quality of life. NO! Does it affect how you go shopping,eat dinner,dress,walk out your door? NO. Does it affect the way you mow your lawn,drink your beer,have sex with your loved one. NO.
End the end when you pass away. Your life is only what you make it. If you want it to be full of hate and discontent for others so be it.
Everyone has the right to there way of life. If you want to live with a same sex partner. Go for it. If you want to live with opposits then go for it.
I have no right to tell you how to live your life. Just like the next person has no right to tell me how to live mine.
OH but its a bible that says so. Ok. So a book tells me what I should and shouldn't do. A book that has changed over time. That was written by people who want to push there ways onto everyone else. I guess I should go write a book and tell everyone they are to live this way and only this way or you go down. Its the samething.

News flash. Everyone has the right to choice who they live with. No matter who you are. No matter what a book says. And guess what. Its not going to change. Learn to deal with changes and life will be a much better place for yourself and others who are NOT just like you.

I noticed that too....

If the anti-gay marriage bigots really wanted to "preserve the sanctity of marriage" they'd make divorce illegal. The Bible doesn't condone divorce, but most of them seem to think it's ok because it might affect them and they want the option there if they need it.

Gay marriage though? Well yeah, they'll vote against that because they can't just go out and stone them or beat them up any more, those good violent god fearing people need to do something to attack someone they don't understand.

It never ceases to amaze me how many Christians can spew some really angry and hateful stuff. Not all of them thank goodness, but a lot of the most vocal opponents of gay marriage seem to have some really despicable views about the world and anyone who doesn't agree with them 100%.

I consider myself christian, however i'm not using that as an excuse to hate gays. The only problem I see is that for the last 2000+ years marriage has been considered a religious ceremony. Even this country was founded on christian principals. Why can't we go with civil unions with the exact same rights as married couples. If this is really about equal rights this seems like a valid compromise to me.

"What if" arguments are really not a valid or logical debating tool. What if everyone used birth control and never had children? What if everyone went blind? What if everyone only gave birth to males? These scenarios will NEVER happen and they aren't a logical argument. For your "What if" you would have to assume that nobody at all enjoyed straight male/female sex. And that isn't going to happen, either.
