Two teens charged with "car hopping"

This just happened to me Sat. Morning in North Port. My car radio, amplifier, subs and box were all taken out of my car. It took me a while to put all that together, so i hope the police can catch these punks. Infact this morning there was a white pickup truck with a couple people in it driving slowy infront of my house, so if anyone lives in North Port i strongly feel the people in that truck are going around stealing from peoples cars.

This happened to me a few weeks ago as well. I had my girlfriends birthday present in my car, a brand new iTouch. I can't believe what society is coming to. I guess we all just have to learn to keep our cars <strong>locked</stron g>.

but like u cant stop those people, u just have to be smart and keep ur car door locked, unless people will true and steal from u

I cant recall exactly where I read a NP Forum post but it was the same deal, and it was a white truck. This was last year.
The hard part is w/o a physical description the police cant do a damn thing. We cant expect they pull over every white truck.
If you file a report w/ the make model and year and a description of driver and passenger and affirm they were the ones you seen on the night of the crime. Maybe they can stop them. Defiantly get a Lic. Plate #, maybe that will give the officers a name and cross reference it with previous reports/allegations. You'll still have to pick them out in a line up.
I wish the police were super heroes but they are not, we have to do some of our own foot-work to help them out. They need Probable Cause to proceed, your complaint and sworn statement is their P.C.
Good luck and I'm sorry you were robbed, maybe don't install expensive equipment, or ensure if you do, have a good alarm.
Idea: ADT has these new wireless alarms, you can install a motion detector in your vehicle, trailer or shed if you like. Bamm, you'll be protected. Assuming the vehicle is at least in your driveway.

If you are stupid enough to leave expensive items in your car without locking it, you deserve to have it stolen!!!! Locking your car takes a second, as does unlocking it

what you do to catch a car hopper is simply lock your door and roll down your windows. That way the person will just reach in and unlock your door or just reach in and grab something thinking how easy it is, but as soon as they do that you're car alarm will go off and that's when you go outside and catch them.

i hope you realize you just gave an unknown number of people, including myself, on what NOT to do when we go out and take things from vehicles. Also, see how well you can "help the police." please let me know how many criminals you've aided in catching, batman.
