Walmart's Alcohol Policy

When I got me a parking space opens up. I could car in the middle of the cashier have a handicap permit. Now I could care less who is behind me. Lmao wow. Okay first, you don't have to sell alcohol at Walmart because the lane until a parking space opens up. I could they have to sell alcohol at Walmart because they have to sell it, so why would the lane until a parking space opens up. I can set my car in the age of 18 to sell it, so why would car in the middle of they have to sell it?

Did I ask for business advice?? No , I sure didn't!! So shut it!! All of you! No other place has what we have so you will all come every day like you always do! I don't wanna hear another peep out of any of you!!

By law in Texas a minor is allowed to possess and consume an alcoholic beverage with consent and presence of parent/legal guardian/or spouse. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT

By law in Texas a minor is allowed to posses and consume an alcoholic beverage in the presence of a parent/legal guardian/or spouse. People on here need to gain knowledge before down talking someone view on this policy.

Maybe in Texas but we are in Missouri.I think they are talking about Missouri.We can't do that in Missouri!!!!That's illegal here!

I had to card 3 people who came to my register and two of them looked underage and the woman called me a bitch and told me to shut my mouth. I tried explaining the consequences I could face and that was when she told me to shut up. She called me a stupid bitch because I was following policy and state law. Classy!

To get anyone past the ID check, as long as the clerk wants to help...

The clerk only needs to pretend to look at the ID and then put any DOB they want into the POS system.

As a Wal-Mart cashier I will tell you that my store requires that we card EVERY person who is accompanying the purchaser UNLESS they are over the age of 40 or a dependent (child) of the purchaser.

If a 40 year old woman comes throw with her minor children, we do not have to card the children and it is the cashier's judgement on weather or not to card the woman if she appears to be older than 40 (which is state law)

At my store it the responsibility of the cashier to ensure that every person who seems to be under the age of 40 who actively interacts with the purchaser. So if three 23 year olds are present at the time of purchase (or if the cashier sees the main purchaser interact with anyone for any time more than a quick hello.) the cashier must card them ALL or deny the sale if even one member of the party cannot or denies to provide legal ID. There is zero budge in this policy.

This is a store policy, and contrary to popular belief Wal-Mart employees have the ability to deny any sale that they do not feel to be right. It is completely legal -and responsible- for Wal-Mart employees to deny a sale due to the fact that those accompanying the purchaser does not have proper ID.

That is bullshit and no it's not a law i work at a store that sales beer and we don't have to card everyone with the person that is buying to beer

I agree, that policy is ridiculous. I'm 19 and went grocery shopping with my 26 year old brother for our parents (who are currently unable to do so because my mother is bed bound and my father recently had surgery and has a cast). My parents wanted a 6 pack of ponies (which was the only reason my brother accompanied me) and we were not allowed to purchase them because if I were to "get hurt" they could be held liable. I explained they were for my parents and my brother was paying with their debit card in the first place. My boyfriend was also with us and he didnt even get carded, just my brother and I. No one is going to get drunk off a few ponies anyway. We ended up just going to the gas station right in front of Wal-Mart, at least there was no hassle. It was so stupid and a waste of our time.

Actually, it is legal for a minor to possess and consume alcohol if it is provided by their parent or guardian. At home or in public. In the state of Missouri.

The part to which I was referring to be a state law was that persons who are purchasing alcohol an appear to be under the age of 40 are required to be carded (or in Indiana it is anyway). Wal-Mart's choice to card everyone is in no way mandated by state or federal law, but is must be upheld by all Wal-Mart employees who wish to have a job for another day. Just remember that these policies are set by someone who probable never interacts with customers and is living the hi life in an office. These policies are not set by cashiers or store managers, so try not to be to tough on people who are only doing their jobs.
