What will management do when the nurses strike at the hospital for a week at the end of this month? The big wigs have cone down on the directors and told them to take patients from the emergency dept regardless of acuity of the patient as long as there is a bed available. That puts the nurses license at risk and the patients life in danger and management does not have the guts to stand up to the big wigs. Here we go....strike!!! Let's see how they treat this situation.

Don't back down to threats and attempts to be strong armed by the directors or anyone above then. The hospital cannot function without licensed nurses and that is always taken for granted. Can't wait for the end of the month.

Will anyone notice if they strike? Oh look, the nurses are continuing to not do anything, they must be on strike.

Since they started that new building, they have been letting the place fall apart even more. They "laid off" some a while back, was that nurses? We had a guy at work in there sick a while back, there was a guy came in to ask how things were going, dressed nice-some kind of boss, and you could barely talk over those stupid IV pump alarms. Ok, this guy IS a nurse that come in-why didn't he stop that infernal racket? Saw a bunch of nurses dressed up nice, doing nothing but running up and down the halls acting so busy and important going to meetings-that's the problem right there! Too many chiefs and not enough indians. Worked for a corporation too many years not to recognize poor organization and labor management. Imagine if Wal-Mart at Christmas perhaps, promoted every other cashier to a management position, but never replaced them-just closed the register down and sent all the remaining customers to the available checkouts. Then had the new bosses scream at the checkout associate to go faster- be more accurate. The customer gets tired of this and goes to another store, but here we are talking about human lives, not tube socks. You have capable nurses, but poor business understanding-looking at labor stats during a busy time instead of worrying about customer satisfaction for the long haul. Good nurses, bad management leads to employee revolt and when they have another hospital to steal employees the Corporation will fire all the managers but never blame their own business practices, then bye-bye nice clothes, back to actual work...

I just didn't see things changing so I got a job elsewhere, and it is better. Also, if you do strike, be prepared to have your license challenged for patient abandonment. I feel for the nurses left there, Coppertop is hiring...

My family member had an open heart surgery recently and the nurse who recovered her that night was completely awesome-he worked his tail off, explained every medication, monitor, and procedure that happened. I don't know what nurses you are getting to in your post, but spend a few minutes with the cvicu nurses and your opinion may change. Thank you.

Most people have only experience with floor nurses and they are spread so thin they can't keep up. Do the nurses catch he'll but it is the hospitals fault for being so cheap....

It is only abandonment if you are clocked in and leave. If you just don't show up thats different. As long as you are not clocked in or leaving without coverage they cant get you on abandonment. Oh and if nurses are a commodity why is there a shortage?

That will be wonderful if it actually happens. I have been a nurse for twelve long years and I'm ready to get out. The only people who understand my woes are people who have been there. If you haven't walked in a nurses shoes you should refrain from commenting because you know not of what you speak.

This isn't true. Nobody is going to strike. This is just someone blowing off steam. Trust me, they may be disgruntled but they are far more disorganized to pull off a strike...

Oh yea, go on strike and have people in need die. Do you know how many people that are in nursing school that will jump to take your spot. Every job have their shitty moments, But you have to remember that people are losing their jobs everyday, not saying to let them run over y'all, but be thankful that you even have that job. Plus, don't y'all get paid like $25+ an hour. Sit down.

I'm sick of nurses complaining. No one forces you to go to nursing school and then apply for a job in a hospital. You chose it as a career path. Now just do your jobs and shutup!

Are you in management. Organization and attitude reflects leadership. What does that say? Directors can't be pleased with getting griped at for patients sitting in the ER because they don't have floors adequately staffed. The directors are pawns also.
