Aw heck, why don't you blame spoons or super-sized fries for making Rosie O'Donnell a big, fat slob?

Alcohol has been part of just about every culture in existence since agriculture was invented.

The abuse of it is a cultural phenomena. You can hardly blame it on the alcohol any more than you can blame guns for murder.

As it is, the major US brewers like Anheuser-Busch and Miller tend to turn out a product that's comparably bland and tasteless compared to imports.

Only recently have they introduced lines of beers that offer a better quality of flavor. Even then, it's tough to compete with the newer, smaller microbreweries that uniformly produce a superior product.

The imports simply increase the competition in the states, forcing all producers to hone and improve the product they offer. Whether it's superior ingredients, better recipes or lower price, the consumer wins.

And I know several wonderful Dominicanos I'd happily lift a "Presidente" with any time. Gracias, amigos!

Live it up while you can. Enjoy a good beer and a good lady. Forget about alcohol or smoking , the number one killer of people throughout history is religion.

Historically, alcohol was a safer drink than water because germs can't grow in alcohol (Jesus drank wine). I am trying a new beer every time. There are so many! I like the Belgian Trappists best, in moderation, of course!

"They're a great trade up for a Bud drinker, but not as high priced as Corona and Heineken,"

Presidente is a better value in terms of taste and price than Corona, but not quite as good as Heineken. Bud is a non event in this conversation, or any that I can think of for that matter.

Of course if you're hanging out at the Malecon in Santo Domingo listening to some Merengue or Bachata and sweet talking the lovely chicas, a Presidente bestido de novia blows everything away ;-)

Presidente is better than Heineken, Corona and Becks combined. One day it will out-sell them all. Time will tell........
