The men in the picture are already standing in a line. If they could buy some thongs like pole dancers, lock arms, and kick can-can style likethe Rockettes, they could earn tips from passers by. C'mon guys, let's hear it - sing it out - "Prisoners of love. blue skies above, can't keep our hearts in jail...."

I don't see how this is revalent to CT. More illegals taking jobs from citizens. Maybe its time to go back to Mexico and let their government take care of their poor instead of the USA. I know lots of people here in CT who cant find work.

I have no sympathy for "undocumented" workers. Thanks SS, for giving another location to report to ICE.

Driving up Albany Ave in Hartford it seems like alot of guys could use the jobs instead of hanging out on the streets all day!

As the economy worsens this situation will only get worse. I have no sympathy for the illegals and their sympathizers. I have sympathy for the American citizen who loses his job to cheap foreign labor in China and all the Latin American countries. I see the damage that uncontrolled immigration does to our cities and towns. My advise to the illegals is go home and make your own countries better! We don't want you here if you are not legal.

They are getting what they deserve for coming to our country illegally to steal jobs and social services. They should all be rounded up and deported to the ghetto countries they came from.

I have to agree with the majority here. I have no sympathy for people here illegally, stealing jobs, paying no taxes and using social services that my tax dollars pay for. Get and education, get into "the system" in a legal way, interview and obtain a job, just like every other legal working American has to do. We outlawed slavery in this country over a hundred years ago, but apparently many are still willing to look the other way and essentially allow "slavery light" in the form of day workers. Document, educate, and contribute.

What a whiney West Hartford loser you are! The illegals are only doing work Americans don't want to do...for that rate of pay. If contractors would actually pay fair wages, then they could hire whomever they choose. On some jobsites, contractors are supposed to pay federally mandated wages, but choose to pay illegals who are untrained in safety, putting everyone at risk to injury or death. They choose illegals not because they work harder, but because they pocket the difference in what they are supposed to pay by law to workers on the site, and what they actually pay the illegals. How do they get away with it? By cashing the paychecks of illegals, and paying the illegals in cash only part of the wage. That way the records look like they paid the correct wage, but they didn't.

I don't fault the illegals---I'd be doing the same if I came from some dirt-poor country and had some kids to feed. But it is plain old American greed that allows these unsafe jobs sites to flourish. On top of that, if the illegals complain they are threatened with loss of pay, or injury, effectively creating a corporate slave class.

Luckily, now federal jobs are mandated to use E-Verify to ascertain the residency status of all contractors/subs.

i agree with big, although i have to point out that it is the american love for low price that is as much to blame for the use of cheap (i.e., illegal) labor than it is employers not paying fair wages; the contractor who pays wages high enough to attract legal workers (& ex westhartfordite has a point about this) will be instantly undercut by the one who doesn't and we will instantly take advantage of his lower price, while moaning about the illegals - we made our own mess here

Stop hiring these dogs. Stop contributing to the downfall of our economy. Stop contributing to the destruction of the American way of life. The rule of law must be followed. ICE needs to round these dogs up when they are caught committing a crime. And they will. The stench of our "immigration policy" as a country will eventually reach the heights of Washington D.C. When it does, it will be too late. We need action now. When the illegals hold a rally for their rights, which they are not entitled to, ARREST THEM! When an illegal flies their native country's flag above ours, SHOUT THEM DOWN! If they want OUR rights, DEMAND that they get in line and come to our country LEGALLY!

If somebody chooses to jump our borders and come here illegally, THEY ARE A CRIMINAL! And they should be treated as such. They have their signs at rallies readin "We are not criminals".....THEY ARE! The very act of them being there is an illegal act. Something MUST be done! And, when calamities similar to this one occur, people tend to look for easy scapegoats! What an easier target than "pedro" and "maria"! The slave labor washing dishes, babysitting their kids, plucking chickens, picking up the oranges and tomatoes! In short, jobs noone writing here today would do! They moan and cry like little children, but their masters in Washington, who also benefit daily from this cheap labor, ignore them! Breaks your heart!

How do you figure we benefit from illegal alien criminals?

That tomato that costs 5 cents less costs U.S. taxpayers billions of dollars in education, law enforcement, and medical care.

Identity theft, drug dealing, gangs, etc., are more problem brought by illegal alien criminals.

Low wage U.S. workers are squeezed out of their jobs not because they WON'T do the job but because employers will pay illegal alien criminals less pay and fewer if any benefits. So then the U.S. taxpayers get to pay unemployment benefits for those who lose jobs to illegal alien criminals.

One benefit of the slowing economy, in addition to crackdowns on employers, is that more of these illegal lien criminals will self-deport.

We don't want illegal alien criminals in our country. Illegal alien criminals have no rights here, and have no right to demand anything of us. More and more states are passing laws to keep jobs and benefits from illegal alien criminals. More and more taxpayers are harding their attitude about illegal alien criminals.

Illegal alien criminals - go home before you are arrested.

If you get rid of all the undocumented (aka illegal) labor, market prices will rise. And, those spoiled brat kids will do the work as they'll get paid more. When contractors say they post jobs for $10 to $15 an hour and no one responds, the answer is to raise what you pay. It's called supply & demand and a free market economy. Business does not have a right to cheap labor. I'm in favor of greatly expanded legal immigration and deporting every last one of the supposed 12 million ILLEGAL immigrants.
