right away they already have the wrong reasons in mind to want to work for Border Patrol. If money is the driving factor, then expect a less than rewarding career if you even get to the point that you call it a career.

Money is the root of all evils. MONTESINO's....think about why you want to become a border patrol agent. And remember that once you start work, it;s VERY hard to go back to school. Statistcally, most people never go back to school.

I would recommend to both of you to become police officers..you will get paid more, can live locally and you will be treated much better than any Federal Job. Federal jobs are weird with many strange layers of management. Stay away from Federal jobs if you can and do local government. Whatever you do, stay away from STATE jobs.

When they won't let the Border Patrol agents do their job, and put them in jail when they do, who in their right mind would want to apply for this job. The government doesn't want to secure the border. Most politicians want to open the borders between Mexico and the U.S. and Canada and the U.S.

Sounds like age discrimination (18-40) but the fedreal government does what it wants like the wet foot dry foot law or state law alowing spanish on the driver test but not french,german or others.I think we need the 1500 agents right here on the front lines of the invation.Let the west coast use their own citizens if they have any!

They are desperate because they've always had problems keeping agents along the Mexican border. Most people don't want to go there because the job sucks, and many of the ones who are there want to transfer out. Its a nasty job and the pay isn't all that great---which is why some of them take bribes to let the illegals and the drug pushers through. Most of the year they're working in unbearable heat and risk getting shot by drug smugglers and other undesirables. Most of those 1500 new hires will not last long out there.

I'm in application process right now. I passed the written/alternative language test, the medical/fitness examination. Now I'm just waiting for the oral board review and for the background investigation to be complete. This article failed to mention you'll be making $70,000 after 3 years. You must add 25% of salary because of AUO. At the academy, they teach you spanish b/c those mexicans don't understand a lick of italian.

Florida is a rotting cesspool of despair, and the Border Patrol is my ticket out.

No education requirement. That's nice. Why not empty the prisons and let them be border gaurds. Hell, why not forgoe legal citizenship as well. What a bunch of crap!

When times get tough, tough people survive. You have given up already, obviously one of the weaker genes. Part of the natural order of things. The slackers and the stragglers will whine and complain. The tough will step up and lead.

Got news for you john....a lot of soldiers, marines and sailors have no formal education and I trust my lives with them for my security. They work in unbearable heat too. They do it for a lot less money than BP pays. I thank God for them john. Do you? You don't need a college degree to work the border patrol. What you DO need is some cahones, tolerance, fortitude, compassion (yes john, illegals ARE human beings)patriotism, and stop whining and stand up and be a man.
