Not at all,I went to rehab to get treatment (I personally chose to go, it was not court mandated and I wasn't facing any consequences other than my health and my life) and I opted not to receive pharmaceutical treatment, even though it was offered, because I wanted to live a clean life and not be dependent on drugs. |

My daughter is choosing to go the methadone way? I'm beginning to wonder if it for the rite reason? She's telling me there is a year waiting list for the suboxone way? But she sure the he'll can find it on the street any time she wants it? I know nothing about methadone, I'm going to do my research today, by talking to a few people I agree with you on going with the suboxone, I'm so ready to give up on her? I'm a single mother that does not drink, nor do any kind of drugs, but these drugs are kicking my ass!! I have other children to worry about that live a clean life, but these drugs have changed me in so many ways an I don't even know what a "box" or what the difference between meth or methadone are? An I do have another question?I found a smashed half mountain dew can with what looks like some kinda black ash or something like that, she saying it was pot, I know better then that, I may be stupid when it comes to drugs but I know it was not pot! |

It could have been pot, that isn't far fetched. I've watched people smoke pit out of pop cans. I've watched people smoke pot out of apples! However, it could of been something else. I guess you'll never know on that. I definitely know it isn't a YEAR for suboxone. A few months tops, not a year. And in Columbus there's no waiting list at all. A lot of people go that route. A "box" is street slang for suboxone, so "meth" could e street slang for methadone, but as I'm sure you know could also just be meth, it depends on the context it's being used. I've been told methadone is worse than suboxone. A lot of deaths are associated with methadone, and when a drug addict is telling you suboxone is a better/safer route to go they're probably right. I don't know, I've never done either for I've never had a reason to need to. You should never give up on or turn your back on your daughter, no matter what she has put you through. You have to remember she is still your daughter, and she is still somewhere in there, even if you can't recognize her anymore. A lot of people preach tough love but I don't believe that works in these situations. If anything I think it makes it worse. You can still be there for her and help her so long as it is in a positive way. Just don't enable her. There's a difference between throwing your hands up and saying "I give up" and refusing to enable but still being there. When you turn your back on someone it just makes them feel worse, and the addict in them wants to get more high. Believe me, you won't be making them think "man... They deserted me... I think I'll get clean now" it's the complete opposite. Look into suboxone, it isn't a year wait I don't care what she says, she's trying to pull the wool over your eyes on that one. I don't know how methadone treatment works fully, but I do know with suboxone they have you meet with a therapist....which is honestly never a bad thing, even for non-drug addicts, and a good thing for family members dealing with drug addicts, so you should look into it as well. Check into Nar-anon groups too. http://www.nar-anon.org/Nar-Anon/Nar-Anon_Hom... Good luck to you, it's hard but it is not impossible. Don't give up, no matter what!:) |

Thank you, I guess I was having a moment, your so rite! I won't give up! She is the love of my life, an I can't wate till this is over! an I will always be there for her I just don't know what to do, I realize there is so many parents in my shoes, this drug problem is tearing up so many good people, I'm praying something good will come out of this? I do hear in her voice, she doesn't want to be like this, an wishes she's never seen a pill in her life, she told me she was in the 6th grade when she tried it for the first time, I was so clueless, did not see that at all, so to all you parents with young kids, Talk to them about drugs, I was raised in a different world where we don't talk about stuff like that, if I was educated a lil better about drugs maybe I'd would of seen it coming? Thank you for bringing me back to reality, now if I could only get my parents on board, they think she still the angle she once was, an when I won't give her money, my car, she runs to them an tells them how bad I treat her. I've tried to explane to them don't give into to her, but they just don't see it, makes it that much harder on her. |

I am in the program and tweety by far is right! Not all drs can write it! Yes regular families dr can if they get a special license for Suboxone! Also have to see the therapist! Some dr's that write it work out of Suboxone clinics which are more intensive and do lots of group therapy! Some doctors just use their regular office! Aist of these doctors can be found on Suboxones website! Look and educate yourself! |

u get high as hell on methadone for the first month or so, then u begin to stabilize and put the pieces back together. It helped me but it is really hard to come off of even with the docs tapering schedule. |
