Does anyone remember the sea girt inn? What is the name of it now?
|
It was Jimmie Burns' Sea Girt Inn, located on Hwy 71. The building was demolished years ago. There has been no further building on the site, which has been dedicated to open space preservation.'Hope this info is helpful. Toni |

Ahhh!! SGI. Fabulous place in the '70s...used to shake the floor in the front room with all the bopping to The Lynch Boys!! I'm 54 now and live around the corner of these Hallowed grounds...and on a quiet summers night if you listen real hard you can still hear the singing and peels of laughter eminating from the empty site....I don't wanna go home...I don't wanna go home...I'm havin too much fun...creepy huh?

remember the bamboo room- when i was 18 the drinking age was still 21 (it changed when i was 19) they would let you in as long as you could sign your name. one time i signed the wrong name and they still let me in-they would flash pictures on the wall in that room- so much fun

Who remembers the lines to the I don't want to go home song? Not the Asbury Jukes version.
I used to go to see the Lynch Boys Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. I think Tuesdays used to be the "Bleach Boys" night where they would dress up and hang plastic fish from the guitars and sing Beach Boys songs . Bobby Byrnes and the Brothers would also sing and perform on Friday and Saturday. Lots of Irish, traditional and Neil Diamond, Sweet Caroline(hands, touching hands, soo good soo good etc.) The song I can't remember the words to. Well I don't want to go home, I don't want to go home, were having too much fun (bullshit) I don't want to go home, I don't want to go home the party's just begun, Send the bartenders home send the... Thats where I get stuck, Thanks, Long Live the Lynch Boys |

It think the next line was:
Send the bartenders home send the girlies on home |

Oh yes, I remeber the Sea Girt Inn with a lot of fun memories during the early 70's. There was no better fun place to be on weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Yes and I was one who never wanted to go home. Occasionally had a bouncer carry me down the ramp and deposit me in the parkng lot. There will never be another place as great.

Lynch Boys, Perry Brothers, Jimmy Byrne at the piano, Occasional visits by the Good Rats, Nothing beat that in the early and late 70's!!!
All of the Jersey Best bar bands were always there or around. Well worth the Parkway quarter toss for a weekend visit at the shore!!! We live in Florida now but WE REMEMBER!!! |
|
|
Well ... whatever happened to the LYNCH BOYS?
I was also there in the 70's They Rocked !!! |

Holme, one of the great bar bands from the heyday of the Jersey Shore, who played at The Sea Girt Inn has reunited. Listening to them now you'd believe it was still the seventies and you were stil in your twenties. It's still a party! It feels great. Their appearances are listed at

The Sea Girt Inn was the only place you could go and meet great people, hear terrific music and get
some of the best hamburgers down stairs in the snack area. I used to rent a summer cottage in Point Pleasant beach for $700.00 for the whole summer. Saturday night and the Sea Girt Inn "the best". I really miss those days. I'm 64 now, and time seems to be rushing by. All the best to those who shared the good times. |

[Loved the Jersey Scene. A little earlier than you guys, late 60's was my heydey. Used phoney proof years before I was 21. Like everybody else.
Here's the words. I don't want to go home...I don't want to go home. I'm having too much fun. I don't want to go home.. I don't want to go home. I'm having too much fun. Send the bartenders home. Send the girlies home. Send them all, but save me one. I don't want to go home. I don't want to go home. Cuz I'm having toooo much fuuuuun. |

Sorry-I forgot a line. Pretty sure this is how it went.

I paintyed some signs for the Sea Girt Inn--met the brothers when I delivered beer for Harry Wardell's Point Pleasant Distributors.... truck loads of Rheingold beer. As a fledgling sign painter, new to the trade--I did some work on their double decker bus and some upcoming event banners. After 4 years in the Air Force, I once again returned to nights at the Inn---completely surprised that they never forgot me after 4 years away. The trademark song is ALABAMA JUBILEE--remember Jimmy would do the slow intro on the piano?? And how about the YMCA song---remember some goof would get up and do the disco Y M C A body movements?? I still live in Point Beach--I miss the good times we had back then. A million memories. And to the gals--thanks for all the dances and fun we had.
