Thank you, crawford county for giving Curtis Atkins (a habitual crimnal) only a 3 year suspended sentence for burglary, fleeing, and 3 counts of assault on a police officer, so he could get back to what he does best which is bring meth into our community. As far as I'm concerned they can take all the atkins out of this neighborhood. They are all liars, thieves and druggies. I am not alone in my opinion. Please, law enforcement clean up our town. Thank you.

Yes, by all means lets take care of the drug problem in our area! Lets also get these people the help they obviously need. Addiction is a disease; one which you lose all control over.
Maybe we should use some drug-money funds to get some helpful programs going. Because obviously the programs we have are not working.
Oh wait, only $5,000 was retrieved from a huge drug trafficking outfit. Hummmmm ... Maybe we should check into that too. I don't think I've ever heard if such little money "confiscated" from a drug cartel. Maybe we should check into that too.
Folks, we are surrounded by corruption in all forms, shapes, and sizes. Some of that includes people in uniform.
What we need is a complete moral overhaul in our society!! And sad to say but we are going to he'll in a hand-basket!
Let me not judge, for someone far greater than I will be doing that for all of us.

I do understand where "concerned neighbor" on post #4 is coming from - it looks like they are dealing with a neighbor that was arrested 17 times between 1988 and 1995. If you don't believe the number of charges and convictions go this link: http://docapp065p.doc.state.ok.us/servlet/pag... -- also, keep in mind that this information cuts off in 1995 ...
I am not sure of exact dates but I do believe CA served no less than 10 years in prison starting in the late 1990s and on through abt 2005/6 ... Since being released his name was in the Fort Smith newspaper at least twice: on 2 March 2012 -- http://swtimes.com/sections/news/high-speed-c... -- "... Atkins, who was driving, rammed two patrol vehicles during the pursuit, Brown said. He swerved into one patrol vehicle while an officer was attempting a rolling road block — a technique used by officers in a high-speed chase where the suspect in question is boxed in and forced to slow down — during the chase, Reichard and Atkins were throwing items, like pillow cases full of stolen items and a small safe, from their vehicle, Brown said. Nearby civilians picked up the items and returned them to investigators, Brown said. Atkins was arrested on suspicion of three counts of felony aggravated assault with a vehicle, three counts of second-degree battery on officers, first-degree criminal mischief, fleeing, a parole violation and a misdemeanor complaint of reckless driving, according to a Crawford County jailer."
And then on 10 July 2012: http://swtimes.com/sections/news/leflore-man-... -- "Deputies located Atkins at the residence and attempted to place him under arrest. He tried to run so we had to Tase him ... he was arrested on suspicion of numerous counts of stolen property, at least seven, being a felon in possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a police scanner while in commission of a crime and possession of a surveillance system while in the commission of a felony. He had surveillance footage operating outside the residence”...
Considering all the publicly available details on this man's criminal history I also believe that enough is enough. If he wasn't nearly 50 years old, with a track record that is almost scary, I would likely have a bit of sympathy for him. I would probably agree that he needs medical help for an obvious addiction issue. But, all things considered, if he needs medical help to stop being arrested for stealing, especially after all the second chances he has been given, he needs to pay for his own medical treatment. As a society we have paid enough for this one person's "problem".
As to post # 5, written by 007-fyi - "Folks, we are surrounded by corruption in all forms, shapes, and sizes. Some of that includes people in uniform." ... I agree with that statement, there is corruption running rampant and not just in our area, but I don't think that's the case with this situation. It appears there's someone in our area that doesn't have much respect for his neighbors, let alone "authority" and I really don't think an addiction problem is the cause because it looks like the behavior predates the earliest drug arrests.

As a member of the Atkins family I am very upset about your comment.. For one I am a graduate student who has never done drugs in her life.. My grandpa was the most hard working person that I knew and would help anybody who needed it. My family Is a very good family.. So their not perfect.. Are you? Didn't think so! My uncle curt may be a drug user and yes I wish he didn't do some of the things that he has done but he is a good man. Drugs can take over somebody and I pray that he is healed from this addiction every day.. But I also will pray for you. Instead of showing so much hatred for my family why don't you think of praying for him and his family. Thank you .

I just saw this reply or I would have answered sooner - that said, I am very upset about your comment. For one, I'd be very interested in knowing exactly what field your graduate studies are in - curious because instead of talking rationally - you are making my post all about you and all about your family when it is directed towards your Uncle's bad, bad behavior.
I have known your Uncle nearly 40 years so you can stop right there and spare me the "he has changed" BS. He hasn't changed and we both know it.

Shame on you for defending someone and calling him a, "good man" while he poisons children, destroys families, and victimizes the innocent with the meth he injects into our community. This man has also stolen from hard working, tax paying, LAW ABIDING citizens. I promise you that if you had kids addicted to meth you would feel differently about the heartless thugs who victimize us with it. If you had your hard earned stolen by these wastes of space you would feel differently. Stop lashing out at victims and turn your anger toward the criminals. Who's side are you on anyway?
