First of all danea and i were both there from a young childhood age to an adult age, so we didnt know about boys and relationships and we were not taught how to have relationships with anyone other than God and the staff and girls that were there. We learned how to do chores and we got a decent education, but there was no education on life outside of the home. Religion was pounded into our brains and hearts. Everything that wasnt about God was satan. As far as what danea said about the animals, we both were aloud to take care of the animals when got older. The animals we took care of made us happy so we would go down there and do our chores very slowly so we could spend as much time as we could outside away from other people. She already talked about running away from the home her other posts the last one wasnt about that. Dont twist her words around. The animals were right behind the girls house and taking care of them in the morning and after school was a little taste of freedom. We both ran to the animals when it was time to take care of them, the animals gave us comfort, we loved them and they loved us because we spent time with them and took care of them. Its a wonderful feeling knowing animals are just as excited and happy to see you as you are to see them. We stayed out there as long as we could and played with the animals, feed them. sometimes we would both hang out together and talk, other times we would just enjoy having some alone time, If you ever lived with 18 other girls then you would understand what she and i are talking about. The staff were always close by keeping an eye on us. I lived there for so long i knew the home and the land like the palm of my hand.Just because the home has a new name and has changed the way they do things dosnt mean that we arnt telling the truth about our experiences from when we there. Other people have came here and told their experiences too, staff and kids, so we arnt the only ones.
I was a resident for a few years while these girls were there, and what many posters don't realize, is that these girls where practically BABIES when they were dumped down there.

How dumb am I? I'd have to consult my master's degree and post graduate work in attachment disorders to answer that one. You said before you were never allowed to interact with the boys but are now saying you were only nine and couldn't handle relationships. I'm just trying to make sense of these posts.
You honestly couldn't wrap your head around it unless you were there.

Hey i remember you Jessica! I was there from Sep.' 92 -til I graduated in Dec. 94. You had glasses and couldn't be more from the truth. There were some good times but we were definitely abused in every way! How ya been?

I worked for the Lord's Ranch (when it was still under that name) for a short time a few years back---around 2004 or 2005. I believe every word Jessica has said here. I was told from the very beginning that I "wasn't allowed to make eye contact with the children or speak to them". I was an employee in the administrative office and didn't have much contact with the children anyway due to that. I was stil troubled by the fact that I couldn't interact with them because, to me, the whole purpose of a facility like that is to provide warmth, love and compassion for the children there. I love children and I wanted to be able to show support to those children. I had to complete 3 "interviews"--days 2 and 3 were nothing but me filing and doing paperwork, though, and no actual interview took place. I wasn't paid for any of the work I did, even though I did 2 full 8 hour days, because they told me I wasn't an employee yet. The pay was minimal and there was no health insurance available. My first day on the job more than one employee approached me (before even knowing my name!) and asked, "Do you know God?". My 2nd day of employment they had me do medical transcriptions, even though I had NO background in doing something like that. I realized very quickly that the doctors must have been expected to prescribe medications for all the children there, no matter what they were there for. EVERY SINGLE TRANSCRIPTION I DID involved a lengthy "diagnosis" and several "required" medications--typically involving sedatives, anti-depressants and other strong mental health medications. Very disturbing. I heard horror stories about punishments the children had to endure. I'm inclined to believe they were true stories because the facility had a VERY high turnover rate for employees. When I left I vowed I would never go back.

I was there as a staff member during that time and the reason behind the high turnover is that many people can't handle being talked to the way the staff are talked to and they aren't willing to work with some children who are considered a high risk. Its a fine line to walk sometimes. Most office staff would not understand what goes on outside the office.

Why start all of this on here? You must have some major issues.. A public forum that is used for bashing people and places is not where you should be writing all of this...The name has changed, it is no longer the Lord's ranch.. Most people in the area was offended by the name so that is one of the reasons it was changed... And Jessica you need to stay in counseling... It is obvious by writng this book on here like you have you need to find other things to do with your time... I thank God everyday for that place is... It saved my life!!!
I bet they saved your life. That place is like a cult

The CEO is a businessman with no mental health training whatsoever who is closely aligned with the republican party. His goal is profit under the guise of Christian charity.

What would Jesus say about that I wonder? Would he ask to see the most recent balance sheet? If not, I don't think Ted Suhl would have anything to say.

My name is jessica. i was at the lords ranch from 1994 until 2001. This is for people who have been kids at the ranch or staff there to feel safe to talk about what they have been through. i understand that a lot of people will not agree to what will be said but i dont care. too many people have been forced to keep their mouth shut for too long. Its time for the truth to come out. i hope everyone who sees this will respond. some think that the lords ranch is a good and wonderful place, some people dont. Everyone who has been there has seen the good and the bad. The ones that tell the truth will be called liars and christian haters but at least we will finely be able to express our emotions and get it out in the open. We are adults now and we cant get punished anymore and they cant keep us from exposing them. We have nothing to fear anymore. i know that nothing will ever be done about this. they have the government in their back pocket, but everyone who reads this will know the truth. The lords ranch will never go away what goes on there will always continue to go on, but at least once somebody leaves that place they will have a place to tell other people what happend to them.
