Is this the case you were referring to, it happened in July 1999. Around the time of JFR Jr's death.

MELISSA GOSULE body recovered
MICHAEL GENTILE under arrest
Pembroke, Mass.
Hub teacher's body is found after 8 days (Boston Globe) The emotional eight-day search for a 27-year-old Boston teacher who disappeared July 11 after her car broke down near the Cap Cod Canal ended yesterday when the body of Melissa Gosule was found in a makeshift grave near the Chafin Reservoir.

fter giving your request some more thought, I do recall that the remains of a young woman were found in a steel drum on the grounds of the water station. The woman had been tortured with electric shocks from auto jumping cables. I also recall that an employee of Rockland/Abington joint water works was arrested and convicted of the murder. I have tried researching online for more information, but as of this time I haven't had much luck. Is this the incident you were referring to?

It was a long time ago. I recall that the young lady was picked up in Brockton and taken to the water treatment plant and sexually abused and tortured with auto jumper cables. Her body was dumped in the sand pit known at Bartlett's pit off of Oldham Street. Hope this helps.

Marko has the story right.

The victim was a foster child living on or near Pine Tree Lane in Pembroke. She was allegedly a drug addict and prostitute. I believe that the foster family's surname was Denim or Denum or ???

The victim was picked up by the killer and taken to the water pumping station where he worked - I think it was on Great Sandy Bottom Pond off Mattakeesett Street.

My recollection is that the crime scene had been cleaned, but that blood sprayed up, underneath a table or shelf or something similar had been overlooked by the killer when he cleaned up.

Again, Marko is right about the body. The body was found off Oldham Street, near where West Elm Street intersects with Oldham.

Hey Captain. This was when there were a rash of murders in Pembroke. Do you recall any of them?

This murder haunts me to this day. I lived close to the murder scene and had heard screaming, but it sounded like a wild animal and couldn't fathom a scream like that to be human, but it was. Also, her murderer lived in an apartment bld my father owned years earlier, he made life very miserable for us all.

The only other homicide I remember in Pembroke took place at a duplex on Pleasant Street in North Pembroke. My understanding is that it was a drug-related homicide.

Do you have anything to jog my memories about any other ones?

Perhaps you are speaking of the murder / suicide in North Pembroke.
On West Street, an elderly woman was murdered and remains unsolved.
On Four Winds Drive, an elderly couple was murdered.
And on Gorham Drive, a girl was burind in a guy's back yard. All of these crimes, if I recall, happened in a short time span.

I'm afraid that none of those events rings a bell with me.

Fortunately, our beloved South Shore is mostly homicide-free!

Since the original post I have been racking my brain, or what is left of it, to recall all of these murders. There is talk of the police knowing who killed the elderly woman on West St, but for some reason, no arrest. As for the couple on Four Winds Drive, they were killed by a woman who later shot and wounded a man on the shore of Stetson Pond on Plymouth St. Bullistics matched the gun to the murders. Around the same time, a man killed two (?) women in Plymouth and buried one of them in his back yard on Gorham Ave in Bryantville. If I recall, there was a murder / suicide in North Pembroke. All murders occurred around the same time. Shocking for such a small bedroom community.

Can anyone fill in some details? I don't know why this is bugging me. Thanks.
