I was thinking about moving to Plymouth, and was wondering what the town was itself was like. Some questions I have are what the property prices and taxes are like. Any information would be very helpful, thank you.

plymouth is one of the best towns in the country. while it's expensive to live in, it's totally worth it.

I live in Plymouth and I can tell you the taxes per 1000 are high right now compared to surrounding towns. Primarily because tax revenue has been lost from the Pilgrim power plant. Also the assesments are all over the map. 2nd yr in a row I have had to file for an abatement. Hopefully Hollywood East will bring some tax revenue back.

You can check out http://plymouth.patriotproperties.com to get an idea of the assesments and the tax rate.

Even though it says the board says Quincy for me I do really live in Plymouth. I thought I had changed the Topix default zip.

Plymouth is a fantastic location. Not only is it great because of its central location,(close to the Cape, and Boston), it has outstanding amenities (restaurants, beaches, history, shopping). Housing prices have come down, and there is a large selection of homes on the market. This morning there were 381 properties listed on multiple listing. The median price for a home in Plymouth is approximately $300,000. The tax rate in Plymouth for 2009 is currently $11.07 per thousand of the properties assessed value.

There is also a great deal of buzz about Plymouth Rock Studios and Hollywood East building their $500 million production studios on Waverly Oaks near exit #3. As a Realtor, it is anticipated that values will most likely increase as this project continues to move forward. It is scheduled to be completed and open by spring of 2010.

If you need any assistance with finding a place to live, let me know. Good luck.

I have lived and worked in Plymouth for over ten years and love it. My parents visit often and like it so much they will likely retire here. There is a wide variety of living situations, from old historic homes to new condos and housing developments. There is plenty of shopping and strong support for schools. I don't know why people say our taxes are high. They are actually lower than three neighboring towns. I looked this up recently when I bought a home here. Good luck!

its good to hear these comments on here. I am currently living in NY state with my fiance and we always vaca'd to cape cod and recently checked out plymouth a week ago and we loved it ! there are some good jobs available in your town and the houses are beautiful, and the ocean looks unbelieveable....we applied to these jobs but cant seem to get hired, I figure its because we live in ny still and hopefully we take the jump and move to plymouth and then will get jobs....hoping for the best and cant wait to live in plymouth !
