THis plan is a disaster for Pennsylvania. The profits go to private companies rather than the citizens who use the roadways. Truckers will be outraged along with the general public. prices will thus increase further. Who comes up with these wasteful plans??

$250 million a year isn't going to be enough. The rate AC and asphalt paving is going up there going to need at least twice that amout. As it is all PENNDOT project are on hold because of the huge jump in cost last Saturday for AC.

Where is the money that fast Eddie promised gambling would bring to the state? Shouldn't we be using that to offset having to pay tolls, because it certainly hasn't been used to offset any taxes. Just another lying weasle democrat

...and a bunch of overpaid bigwigs (remember those nice hefty pay raises that the toll bridge commission managers received a few years back?).

What a disaster.
If I had to choose one I would have preferred leasing the turnpike.

I will not debate the potential for waste and corruption in any government revenue scheme. However, tolling I-80 is essential. Here's why---it is the ONLY toll-free link between the Northeast and the Mid-West. Trucks are destroying this road (just the weight) every year. Trucks route to this road vs. the NY Thruway or PA Turnpike to save toll money. If you increased Turnpike fares and kept the tolls of I-80, you would only aggravate the problem--more trucks would divert to 80. Taxpayers are already paying millions and millions of dollars a year to repair a road used by trucks (who, despite their claims, pay a small fraction of their fair share for highway construction and repair).

Good question snowman-what is up with that property tax refund? We filled that form out months ago and haven't seen or heard anything. Has anyone gotten anything back or know anyone who has?

LMAO, here we go again, fees collected will repair the roads. What is happening to the money from licenses, road taxes, gas taxes, etc? This money will go for wages and benefits.

It's a stupid idea. How can it be cost effective to build toll booths and hire more state employees? What's wrong with a gas tax? Those that drive more pay more.

bloombsburg university is off of route 80. are college students exempt from the tolls? if not, along with the price of gas - you are making education unaffordable.
