it is not the felons who can not find work , there are a lot of people who have a clean record and can not find work , it is the america today. it is going to get worse , our factories have been moved over seas , cheaper labor for the companies , but now felons, and people with a clean record can not find work . i have a clean record ands can not find work , i hear families who have kids to feed and they can not find work , so really , its not just the felons who can not find work , the reason they can not find work , cause there is no jobs to be given to american people .

It takes a long time to clear a felony record but it can be done. I worked some pretty shitty jobs for years and built up a stellar employment record. I unloaded 100 pound bags of cement, I delivered 300-400 pound beef quarters and worked in a slaughterhouse. My offense was minor (selling pot) but I paid for it many times over. It took about 8 years before I found a decent job and I even passed the background check for my last job! Hang in there it can be done. Don't let the barbaric justice system break you! Stay strong and never give in!

I have never understood the term "ex felon". Once you are convicted of a felony, you are a felon for the rest of your life. Ex would imply that you were a felon but something cleared you of it and therefore you are an ex.

It's like the term "near miss" with airplanes. If to planes almost collide it wasn't a near miss, it was a near hit. A near miss would be if they actuallt did hit. "well they nearly missed, but didn't, too bad for them".

you took no responsibility for your actions here, and you know good and well not even an officer can have a concealed weapon and be drinking.. so basically you are a felon like the rest, good thing you got a job... but you still havent learned that the felony you have is your fault..no one put a drink in your hand, and im sure when you got the permit.. it was well outlined the perimeters. Glad you have a job but your felony was well earned...
agree with response. blaming everyone else for felony. i made a mistake in my life and was not convicted, however shows up on public records so a job offer was rescinded due to this, and some inaccurate info on my bg check. however, mistake or whatever, i still have to take responsibility for what i did, and have some sympathy for others. i would not tell someone to get off their pity pot even if i had a a million dollars and was a felon because it can all be taken away in an instant. and to compare crimes is idiotic. i never robbed a bank, wrote bad check, etc. well the courts dont look at it that way!!!!!! and they cannot change the laws and say ohhh he/she didnt mean it, they only got caught with a concealed weapon while drinking, and surely it was the cops fault not theirs. thats the dumbest thing i have ever heard in my life. and your probably still commiting crimes, i mean why stop when it was the cops fault, the judge the courts, not yours i mean, why take responsibility for your own actions when you can push it off on someone else

Jan 26 2011 was a very sad and very exciting day for me. It was the day my husband came home, but it was the day he was sentenced. He took a plea for reckless aggressive battery and now he cannot find a decent job. I am almost 24 and he is almost 22, and we live with his parents. I work a crappy min paying job with child support taken out, an he does under the table work. He was sentenced to 18 months probation instead of prison time. He is now talking about just goin back to jail to finish the remainder of his time. We are trying to find a place of our own and can't even begin to make ends meet and he is giving up all hope fast. It was terrible him being in jail for 5 months, but now talking goin back for another 6-8 months???? He (we) need help finding a him a REAL job that pays weekly or bi-weekly not just whenever. We don't know where to turn and he is fed up with no one giving him the time of day. He is a really good worker, but everyone sees the aggravated battery and doesn't even glance at the fact it was reckless. Please help someone. You can email me at cinnamon92109@gmail.com. thanks for letting me justget this out and y'all understand

2ND CHANCES 4 FELONS wrote:
My name is Mae Hughes. I started this company due to the trouble I had trying to find a job and be taken seriously by potential employers. I went to so many interviews & filled out hundreds of applications only to hear that I could not be hired due to my background. After my tenth or so interview I realized that we as felons need help locating felony friendly companies who were willing to hire us & allow us to rent their properties . I also help felons locate resources that are available to them in their state. I do this FREE of charge. I know that with help or receiving vital information most offenders will not return to a life of crime & it will ease the struggles that are faced by felons who are going through the same things I did. I am working hard locating the second chances that are out there for felons. If you are someone you may know is in need of help with problems that are caused by them being a felon please contact me. I am a felon so I know firsthand the struggles that we face. I would like to help ease the struggles that are caused due to your/their convictions. I hope to hear from you…Have a blessed day !!!

I too am a convicted felon in the state of Virginia and it is a damn shame that companies will not hire at least non violent felons. I went from making 130.000 a year to 10.00 an hour, yeah it sucks but those of us with lables will pay for the remainder of our lives.

There are jobs still here The days of the factory are over You can't send walmart over seas you can't send restaurants over seas, Hospitals etc get my point we just have to press on like Obama said we are strong people we Americans we just have to adapt besides most of the factoryjobs of the old days etc were back breaking jobs with horrible work conditions. Change is scary but we will adapt so let them bastards overseas work 12 hours putting the same screw in thousands of parts day end and day out see where I am going with this?

Now that is a winning attitude . I am proud of what you are doing. Complaining won't do us any good. Instead you became proactive who knows you may have created a career for yourself just suppose you started a successful non profit that became global maybe even an employment agency just for felons keep up the good work you inspire me

Please explain wrote:
I think its a shame that after so many years of leading a clean life one cant have a felony expunged from their record.I hear its expensive but at least you would know theres light at the end of the tunnel. My son didnt have a problem with the job part but he cant get an apartment. Jean hang in there. You might have to start out small, working to get those letters of recommendation. Have you thought about some type of training?
There is a bill on the table to change all that...id suggest you support it..the more support the greater the chance it will pass. Look at the legislatures website and committees then juvenile justice/parole and you should find it.

I have written a book titled Thinking Outside the Blox which is a book with 22 little known business options for people who cannot get employed due to a felony conviction. Each chapter spells the business out in a step by step format. Have you ever thought about being a mold inspector or starting a mold remediation business? Did you know the mold inspection course is just 2-3 days and about $300.00 dollars. After you take the course you can get started. Your first inspection will pay for the course. I spell how to get started in this business and 21 other businesses. please order the book from the website thinking outside the blox dot com. My hope is that you either start one of the businesses that i have listed or you start to at least think about your options differently and maybe start a business that i did not describe in the book. I pray that we can begin to think outside the city blocks, cell blocks and all that block felons from getting employed. We have to start thinking outside the 9-5 paradigm. This books makes no mention of job training, what to say as a felon on an interview or who commonly hires felons. Starting your own business is the only answer.

Daily Horoscope for June 3

Scorpio

You need a little light relief at the moment and one of the best ways to find it today is to get together with someone who always makes you laugh. You might even want to tell them what's going on in your life at the moment so you can get their perspective on it. This will help to keep your feet on the ground and then you won't feel quite so miserable or beset by problems.
