You can rant about freedoms or lack thereof all day long. I liken your speech to saying that if a man is caught prying open the back door of your home, but has not yet gained entry, he should be able to walk away unpunished. After all, he only intended to break in, but didn't succeed. If a man followed your wife into your home, and has her pinned to the floor, and his pants down, he should be allowed to get up and walk away. Because he only intended to commit a crime. He didn't actually do it.
Meeting a minor with the intention of having sex is not simply something that offends us. It is something that is wrong. An adult should not view a child as a sexual object. And if one does, then one should be separated from society and from minors in particular. Solicitation of a minor is in fact, a crime. Not only did he believe that he was talking to a minor, he showed up with condoms, as I said before. He had the opportunity to change his mind and stay home, having come to his senses. But he made the opposite choice.
No, as a matter of fact, I am not a liberal, and I am certainly not an Obama supporter. What I am, is glad that I live in Bryan, where they are aggressively trying to rid our community of these sick and twisted people.
Oh, Ok. I guess it is ok for a person to attend school for 8 years, become a professional psychologist, and then trick people into commiting crimes. Yeah I get it. Lets also teach have them talk some person into drinking too much and grab them before they get in their car to drive.

I agree, a child molester is crap. But entrapment is not good for a "free" country. Maybe a socialist state, but not here.

Instead, we should have laws that will kill the sobs at the mall or town square. Lets get them legitimately, and punish them accordingly. All this civil rights crap that Kennedy has written into law over the years needs to go away. There are so many good people that can be tricked into doing things they would normally not do if some professional knows all the right buttons to push. You see how easy it is to brainwash a kid into becomming a gang member and go on a crime spree? Same thing, just with a professional and some lonely old nasty pervert.

This is wrong what they are doing to people. I know it seems like the right thing to do, but it is wrong.

I've agreed with you on the blood testing post, but he was not entraped. He contacted a person (who he thought was 13). He started the sex talk, he suggested they meet and he drove 3 hours with a web cam and condoms. The person on the other end was not baiting him in any way. They have all the IMs on record. He is the one that did all this. No psychologist, no tricks, no entrapment. This guy made the choice to continue with the "relationship". He could have stopped it at any time. If I was having a conversation with someone I found out was 13....cya...would be my next post. Sorry...it wasn't entrapment.

Thank you for the input. I don't know all the facts around the case. I was under the impression that the Police was utilizing a professional psychologist and task force to gain the confidence of these men. Trick them into coming to meet them. Actually I have talked to someone online, really a turn on, and bam.. turned out to be 15. I said cya like you said you would do, but that was a kid talking to me, not a professional task force made up of professionals. That scares me and sounds like entrapment.

I just can't picture how he came across these folks. Maybe they were in a chat room waiting? Like I said I don't know the facts, so I will concede to you on this one :-)

What these guys do is go into a chat room, looks for an IM name that sounds like it is a young girl. They fish...they strike up a conversation and if they get (what they think) is a young girl, they try and turn on the charm. They use every trick in the book on these girls, how their parents don't understand them but he does.

On the other end is an adult that has set up a few IM's and they are laying and waiting for someone to strike up a conversation. They don't contact the person...they wait to get contacted. Once someone starts talking to them, they work into the conversation their age (or the age of the fake girl). They are not allowed to start any type of sexual conversation. They can only respond...If they start the conversation it is entrapment. This guy contacted her for I think a month. Told her he would "take it easy" since it would be her first time. He made the drive while texting her to give an update on where he was. This man is sick and needs to be terminated. You cannot cure affection. Eric, I know you will disagree with me on this, but you cannot make a gay man stop finding other men attractive. Just like you cannot make a pedophile stop thinking 13 year old girls are attractive. He needs to be neutered.
