I was saddened to hear of the closing of SCLA. My daughter graduated from there in 2007. the staff that i came in contact with were wonderful and we stil keep in contact with some of them. Scla changed my daughter from a child with no self assurance to a wonderful adult full of life and able to contribute to society. The demons of drugs and self hatred were met head-on and she took control of her life with their leadership. I never felt like her saftey was an issue. Its s shame that SCLA closed. Sometimes main stream schools just don't provide what some kids need, that i learned the hard way. I will remember with fondness the times my family drove to Thompson Falls. We loved the quaintness of the town and the homestyle resturants. This was a 2-day trip just to get there for us. We are from Iowa and made the trip twice with the hope of returning when my daughter was home so we could visit with all the people that made such and impact on my daughter. i have heard that there have been some negitive issues going on at the school and it is unfortunate. To my family it is a great loss. kc
