Route 59 changes

November 3, 2009
From Submitted Reports

PLAINFIELD -- Route 59 southbound traffic will be relocated onto the newly constructed pavement from Union Street to Rolf Road beginning Wednesday so work crews can prepare for the transfer of northbound traffic to the new pavement Monday, weather permitting.

During this period, left-turn access into and out of all private and commercial driveways and all streets except Fort Beggs Drive, Renwick Road and Fraser Road/Feeney Drive will prohibited.

So, someone today told me the new look for route 59 is going to be how shall we say a bi-level roadway? The new pavement going Southbound is apparently higher than the old pavement going Northbound...the Northbound pavement is obviously going to be redone but will be left at the same level it is now? Hence, a bilevel road? Me thinks someone is pulling me leg...

Yes they are pulling your leg. The road will be the same level on both sides.

When contractors take on a project like this, they receive monetary incentives to get the job done before the due date... or at least that's what I've always been told...

Yes they do as well as they are fined for not having it done in a set time frame. I've read where depending on the job and contract they may be fined $10,000.00 a day. I just wish they would finish this job already.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Virgo

You're struggling to get everything finished in time today, making you feel fractious and tired. At some point you may have to take a pragmatic decision about which tasks must be completed today and which will have to be postponed until another day. Do your best to keep things in proportion otherwise you'll waste time in trivial details and needless nit-picking.
