Whats in a name .....

Whats in a name Shakespeare once asked," and the response to the question was ".... That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet." And so it is with Obama's attempt to assuage America's citizens that no harm was done by his latest maneuver to win over the Immigrants hearts and minds /votes. But the smell of what obama has done leaves no question as to the rank motivations.
Obama, "The master of words,' spoke in such noble grandiose and inspiring terms about the measure that he was foisting upon the American people that to do less than to welcome Obama's new grand scheme for granting a new legal status for children of illegal aliens would almost be unamerican.
As obama has often said in the past when trying to slip something unsavory past the American citizens," Thats not who we are," Thats not the America I know..." or other trite cliches in his efforts to make acceptable the harm he had done to the American people and the country by his actions.
Obama and the democrat party have always approached politics as a instructment to be used to allow them to skirt the constitution, to remain in power and to carry out their leftist agendas by any legislative manpulations available to them. This latest piece of chicanery by Obama and the democrat party was just another attempt to curry favor with the immigrant voters at the expense of the average law-abiding hard-working Americans,Yes,Once again, they will be getting the bill, in more ways than one, for Obama's grand gestures.
What ever the democrats called this latest bit of Obama trickery, Amnesty, Dream Act, etc etc, the end results are the same, more immigrants, legal and Illegal, pouring across our open borders and staying to take advantage of our liberal policies, and fewer jobs and fewer opportnities for American families.

Judging from Obamas past policies this is just one more slap in the face to the citizens of this country.
Obam does not care about what is right or wrong, just what will help him get reelected.

Typical Johnny. Whatever happened to
“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”

Just as the liberal Supreme Courts justices declare the constitution is a living document that needs interpretation to fit modern times so do the words written on a tablet located on the statue of liberty.
The poem by Emma Lazarus also needs to be interpreted to reflect todays conditions in the united States. The new words might read something like this, Don't send us your rejects, those who yearn to live off the labors of working Americans. Send only those who respect America's traditions and laws, not those who wish to install socialism and dictatorship style government in the land of liberty. Give us those who wish to pledge allegiance to America and its Flag not those who's allegiance is still with their mother country from which they came. Send only those who respect Americans for who we are, Send us only those who won't try to change us or our religious traditions to suit their visions of what they think America aught to be.You see, America suits us just fine as it is, if you don't see it that way, feel free to stay where you are, your not welcome here!

Good old Johnny. Melting pot is gone. You are only welcome here if you like him.
#6 Jun 17, 2012
that should be "you ARE like me"
#7 Jun 18, 2012
Isn't eric's wording and attitude like most liberal's, pompous and condescending,an attitude thats strictly unmerited to take on his part .
The phrase, Melting pot.... is the magic word used to describe America by liberals when they want to press for open immigration, or like Obama want to have open borders holding with the belief that America is just an address and not a sovereign country any longer.
Liberals, like Obama and yourself don't believe in America's exceptionalism, both couldn't be more wrong in their appraisal of this country as the mass immigration to America by every nationality gives ample testimony ...12 million people live here illegally, according to the statisics stated in D.Morris's Book titled," Screwed." Thats a lot of people coming to America who must think that America is "exceptional," or they would be going to other countries instead of America to live.
America though being exceptional,is becoming a hodge·podge of nationalities, sects, royalities lacking the glue of commonality needed to bind America and its citizens together as one.
In Metallurgy, its been learned that a certain mix of metals makes metals stronger but if the mix become too great the results is a weak metal unable to resist fracture and destruction, this is what is presently happening in America.
The "melting pot" theory has only caused America to be weaker, not stronger, as too many mixes have been added to this" melting pot" causing the weaking of the country not adding to its strengths and ability to survive..

I know. They should have slammed the door shut when they saw your ancestors getting off the boat. Talk about un-Americanism.
#9 Jun 18, 2012
I might ask you......
Whatever happened to legal, orderly immigration?
Whatever happened to the rule of law?
Whatever happened to "consequences" for illegal activity?
Wonder how the immigrants waiting in line in their home countries to legally enter this country must feel? Like saps I would guess.
It is so obvious the whole point of Obama's latest stunt is to gain eventual amnesty for all the millions of illegals now in the country to add these millions to the democratic voter roles.
Obama, all politics all the time.
#10 Jun 18, 2012
Fine. But the young adults who came here as kids committed none of these acts.
And, the prosecutorial discretion enacted by the President is the plan that has been formulated by Senate Republicans. He's just tired of the Senate Republican delay tactics. You have a problem with the program? Take it up with the Senate Republicans who proposed it.
#11 Jun 18, 2012
He is just trying to pander to get reelected.
Golly gee, Obama pandering?
Oh no never.
Give us all a break.
#12 Jun 18, 2012
Don't knock it. He's using a Republican program to his benefit. The Republicans can't argue against it because it's their program. But, they don't want to bring it to a vote because they are afraid that it will reflect positively on the President. So, they sat on it. But, the President put most of it into affect through his control of the Justice and Homeland Security Depts.
All the Republicans can do is whine that it's politics. So what. It kills two birds with one stone. It fulfills the President's promise on immigration, and it gets him votes. Best of both worlds!

More of the same old same old democrat crap.
Hopefully enough of the 50% who aren't on the government dole will wake up this time and vote this amateur out.
If not kiss this country GOODBYE.
By the way the president (as you call him) promised much more than this to the hispanics. He just failed to deliver because he felt obamacare was far more important for his "legacy".
His "legacy" is about to be ruled unconstitutional and thus he will have a failed presidency.
Could anyone have ever guessed that?
No reply needed, even his most ardent supporters will be crestfallen when obamacare bites the dust.
He could have had comprehensive immigraton reform though, if it had really been important to him.
IT WAS NOT.
More of his political bluster.
Imagine that Hussein Obama, a liar?
#14 Jun 18, 2012
Tell that to the Republican Senators who have twice fillibustered reform that was co-sponsored by their own party. The most recent last month. So, the President did an end around and enacted most of the republican backed proposal on his own. Pretty impressive, right!
Of course, it's not to the Republican Senator's benefit to back immigration reform. Look at all the bigotted posts recently. It's not POLITICALLY to their benefit to back immigration reform.

They also allowed your ancestors in didn't they.
The Swiss Philosopher, Emmerich de Vatel opined, "Self defense is a natural right. "Every nation,as well as every man, has, therefore, a right to prevent other nations from obstucting her preservation, her perfection, and happyness that is, to preserve herself from all injuries... and this right is a perfect one, since it is a give to satisfy a natural and indispenable obligation: for when we cannot use constraint in order to cause our rights to be respected, their effects are very uncertain. It is a right to preserve herself from all injury that is called the right to security."A nation has the right to defend its self against a flood of Illegal immigrants, It is the presidents duty to protect the nation from all invasions of any source.
"The oath to be taken by the president on first entering office is specified in Article II, Section 1, of the Constitution:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Obama hasn't defended the nation against invasion by aliens, but has assisted in their entry into the country by refusing to help the states secure their borders and refusing to allow the states enforcement officers to carry out their duties as law nforcement officers.

Obama and the democrats weren't all that anxious to help the aliens, Mexicans in this country. The democrats had the presidency, the Senate and the congress... they could have passed any legislative bill they wanted to see passed,Dream Act, etc.... They didn't do it.Only when Obama was running for office again did he get interested in helping the illegal aliens

You see, this is what the Tribune calls the Big GOP Lie. That's right. The Republican Tribune calls this the Big GOP L I E! There was only 2.5 months when the Democrats had a fillibuster proof majority in the Senate. Not enough time to push through any legislation. The 2 times that immigration reform was proposed, the Republicans fillibustered.
So, Johnny, keep on telling the Big GOP L I E! Even the Tribune doesn't buy it.

But I've done my ancestors proud. We came here to get away from those who killed us and victimized us because we were different. We came here because America was the place where all were welcome.
But then there are people like you who only want people like you to immigrate:
"Send only those who respect America's traditions.... Send us only those who won't try to change us or our religious traditions to suit their visions of what they think America aught to be.You see, America suits us just fine as it is, if you don't see it that way, feel free to stay where you are, your not welcome here!"
And, you don't even care if they come here legally. You have a litmus test. One that flies in the face of the Constitution.
You constantly talk about how great education was when we grew up. Well, I was taught about how great our country was because of the "melting pot". Your ancestors came and were accepted. My ancestors came and were accepted. I am not going to close the door on other people coming to our country just because they have new traditions. Just as your ancestors' traditions melted into American, and my ancestors' traditions melted into America, their traditions will melt into America also. Some traditions will remain. Some will fade. But that's what our history has shown in the past and it will show it in the future.

"Some traditions will remain. Some will fade. But that's what our history has shown in the past and it will show it in the future."
The future of socialism will not be tolerated nor accepted by those that understand the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States of America. This is what it will come down to.
DON'T TREAD ON ME
God Bless and pray for our country.

And, why do you think that the immigrants will bring socialism?
