If you read the Topix Index there are many discussions and topics which suggest that Delaware County Todd Hanks may have an inappropriate relationship with an engineering consultant firm, that while technically legal has obvious implications where things could go astray. While not proven the biogas projects approval and quick disapproval suggested that something may have been amiss as does the pending ethics conflict inquiry Todd Hanks has filed with the Ohio Ethics Commission. The Commission has yet to rule. In the meantime every project involving an engineering firm in Delaware County including Cities, developers etc is circumspect. The cloud over Hanks hangs deep as the other Commissioners don't know why Hanks is abstaining or if their vote may somehow enrich Hanks coffers through second and third party or other types of arrangements.Alternatives that exist: Hanks resigns as Commissioner, Hanks quits his relationship with the engineering firm, The DCRP recalls his appointment or lastly as always the voters repudiate Hanks in the next election. What say the voters do you condone Todd Hanks consulting/sales commission arrangement and should he go as above.

If you are a Delaware Voter I hope you soon lose the right to vote as a result of a felony conviction. What you are is a rumor-mongering liar.

How do you know what the OEC ruled or if it did? You don't. There are dozens of cases on which the OEC ruled that support exactly what Hanks has, a job. There is nothing inappropriate going on here except with O'Brien.

O'Brien again today voted to fulfill the conditions of his bribe and paid more public money to his contributot/county contractor.

He needs

Yes, the Delaware community would be better off if Todd Hanks resigned.

It is sad that a politician has to resort to what amounts to kick backs from a second job that he only got because he is a Commissioner. I agree he should resign

If taking a kickback is a problem then O'Brien should be out on his ass at the next meeting.

He solicited and accepted a "campaign contribution" then he siad he had a conflict with it and abstined so he must think it is a thing of value improperly affecting his lawful authority over the matter, then he voted to pay the contributor public money under the contract.

If it looks like he solicited a bribe, took the bribe, and delivered the public money then it must be so.

Does being a philanderer disqualify one from being a Commissioner?? The only reason I ask is the issue of trust. If someone has violated their previous sacred commitment why should the voters trust that person in the position.

Interesting does outside cash always come with the job in Delaware County? No wonder there were problems with the prior Commissioners and now it just seems like more of the same in particular with Obrien and Hanks. What is it about power in politics??

Sounds like the voters need to attend the Sept 21 Commissioners meeting with posters and civil discourse demanding the resignation of Hanks and O'brien.

Debi and Ken having these fascinating conversations in many different discussions on topix.

Get rid of Hanks and O'brien then everybody would be happy. Maybe the dean can have a fireside chat to obtain their resignations.

Someone needs to uncover this guy's shady dealings and get him out of office. I don't trust him any farther than I can throw him! I don't trust Thompson either. He is a drunk.

Someone gets in a bit of a muddle today and it could take some unravelling. For instance, they might get their wires crossed, leading to all sorts of misunderstandings. You might also encounter someone who is trying to rewrite history, perhaps because they can't bear to remember things as they really were. Should you set them straight or leave well alone?
